For some reason, boyfriend wanted to eat chicken so we came here to 榮式燒雞扒 (English name: Wing's Catering). It's been a while here. This restaurant has a few branches all on Hong Kong Island. When we first came here, there was only the Wanchai and Causeway Bay branch but since then, it's expanded. When we arrived, it appeared they had undergone a renovation. When we arrived, it appeared they had undergone a renovation. The restaurant seemed to have given itself a more cute appearance that reminded me a bit of Yoshinya. That's the only thing I can describe it as. The menu had also changed. It is now in English and Chinese with plenty of photos. In the past, the menu was in Chinese only and one piece of paper with no photos. They also have more food options and not just chicken. There is no 10% service charge.
Grilled Chicken with Rice ($49). Boyfriend ordered this as this is what he came here for. The chicken was tender but the marinade was just way too salty for me.
Octopus Lotus Cakes Noodles ($39). I had this and perhaps I really should have stuck to the chicken. The octopus lotus cakes were dry and tough. It felt like I was chewing on cardboard. The noodles after mixing it with the sauce just tasted like salt.
Drinks were full price at night so we ordered it anyways as it didn't seem like they gave us water. I had the ice tea ($16) and boyfriend had the ice coconut milk ($18). For full price, these were SUPER small glasses. You'd think they give you bigger glasses. Boyfriend's ice coconut milk wasn't really coconut milk but some powdered coconut dissolved in water.
Needless, to say I definitely won't be back. Boyfriend feels it's just this branch as he ate elsewhere and it was pretty good. But twice I've been to this branch and it was not good at all. So, I won't be back.
