Just after holidays, I would be quite busy so better write an English quick report about the experience having dinner in this Hotpot restaurant.

Actually very happy to get my old schoolmate call regarding to coming out for a gethering at dinner time during Easter holiday. The same that we didn't have to wait for the table because the old schoolmate, whom I have known over 10 years, booked a table. Appreciated his work very much.

Reached the restaurant with no expectation after what I could see and sense the restaurant when I came into there. No decoration, barely dry floor but still kind of not clean, noise round and atmosphere match the restaurant's style. Anyways, we were arranged to sit in an old kichen of the restaurant but funny it installed a LCD TV there (not bad).

Let me start to talk about the food quality. We ordered the pork bone soup base. You can see the following picture below:

My old schoolmate explained it to me that the restaurant used to make such much food for the soup base. I just thought they certainly had to do it because the soup base wasn't cheap. It was about HK$180. Anyways, it wasn't too bad. Meanwhile, we also ordered, fat beef, drunk chicken with ginseng (about HK$95), abalone (about HK$65/ each, but couldn't certify that is real African abalone or not.), fishballs, vegetables and so on. You may see the following picture of fat beef. The quality of fat beef was ok too because the price of it was also equivalent! (about HK$280/ plate).

Frankly, having hotpot, the taste will not be much difference between restaurant A and restaurant B, C, or D because almost all the food are not cooked to serve you. The most difference is about the sauces being served. I don't see this LI Ji hotpot restaurant has done something in heart to satisfy customers' needs in this way. They only have soya sauce with red chili and garlic to serve. What I feel that HK's hotpot resturants really have no heart to serve customers. In some new hotpot restaurants in China, like in Shenzhen, they serve with a lot of sauces, maybe over 20 sauces. They usually have a sauce bar for customers to mix their own sauces. Certainly their restaurant's environment is much much nicer.

The service of Li Ji restaurant, I don't want to mention it because no service could be talked.

My schoolmates may think I like to have high class food. That's distorting my meaning. I just want to pay for reasonable prices with equivalent food quality. Certainly if I go to "Cafe De carol", and I pay about HK$30 for lunch, how could I expect?
