I have previously been to Monster Burger before and thought the burger was 'strange' somehow, although all along I would have picked it over Pro-Burger. In the past, the meat was a bit too 'firm' and 'solid' despite advertising that its hand-beaten, it was like a Chinese steamed 牛肉球! It was grinded too fine and also quite thick and nearly exactly the opposite of Shake'em Buns experience, which is very loose. I would have given here an OK '3' before.Fast forward a few months - I keep seeing pe
Fast forward a few months - I keep seeing people giving really positive reviews to WOW! Burger, its sibling. So I was here again giving another try:
CHEESE 1 INCH THICK BEEF BURGER:
When I started unwrapping this, the first thing I noticed is that the pattie was way-way smaller than before but perhaps more flattened. Its now only around 1.2-1.4cm thick at most - that's nowhere near 1 inch at all. That's the Bad News.
The Good News is that the Beef Pattie nowadays is slightly more fluffier and juicier, grilled better, it also has a meatier texture that resembles fresh beef. It does not suffer from the other Hong Kongnised shops which sells patties with so much gap fillers, its like eating dough. I like this now - its finally more like a real burger! My only problem is that the Pattie is very salty somehow.
SWEET POTATO FRIES:
Wanted to try their Sweet Potato fries, requiring around $6.0 for upgrading? Its previously frozen but after frying its a bit sweetish as expected, though a bit dry and too hard, rather than having a fluffy centre with a crispy outer-shell I was expecting. I don't eat this usually but that hungry day I was just a bit curious!
OVERALL - A High '4' yet somehow, Restaurants Still Sell Better Burgers...
