We went there for the birthday of a colleague. The rice in soup of shark's bones surprised everyone when served -- the portion was so small but costing $70! We expected the rice would be enough for everyone to have several spoonfuls of servings at this price. The taste was normal.Fried noodle and fried new year pudding looked oily and dark, as if there was too much soy sauce. I did not even touch them. Fried five-grain rice was ok. I like the chewy texture of the rice.
Steamed xiao-long buns were good -- served piping hot, tasted good and skin of the buns was thin
We ordered both fried plain buns and steamed plain buns. Nothing to talk about, except that the paper lining stuck on the bottom of the buns was difficult to be removed.
Overall, serving size was smaller than expected, guess it is because of inflation. Well, the shrinkage in size seems to be more than the actual inflation. Other than steamed xiao-long buns, food quality is mediocre. Other places serving Shanghai dishes of similar quality may cost less.
As the comments of the previous critics, some waitresses were careless and bumped into the guests when serving tea or food. A waitress suggested us settling the bill where I was still having some food. Need some improvement. Another waitor was attentive and kept serving us tea after we were done with the food.
