Here I am again after my last review on the Crispy Hojicha cake, bringing to you a review on the Crispy Uji Matcha cake. I am infatuated with desserts so if you don’t already know, I have tried cakes from a wide range of bakeries and I must say the cakes from A-1 Bakery are growing on me. They did an impeccable job at defining each and every layer of the cakes in a way that you could really taste each layer as described. We bought a 15cm cake and it was a lot for a family of four so we saved a quarter for the next day. It turned out to be totally fine and we were upset at how little of a portion we were sharing amongst us as it was slowly being nibbled away! Though, even at the bakery, the hojicha flavour was a hotter seller than the matcha flavour and I think it is a reasonable occurrence given the hojicha cake did overall taste better. If you ask me, I could not put my finger on what fine details were missing from the matcha cake. I guess we all gravitated towards the hojicha cake likely without rhyme or reason, haha!
