I came here for lunch before heading for work. I realized that I never tried this place so thought to do so on this day. Totoya is located in Windsor Place. It is part of the Mi-ne Sushi group, the first Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant that made their sushi by hand. Prior to them, it was all from a machine. It was once super popular. But their quality decreased and others copied with better results, so many of their restaurants closed in Hong Kong. Totoya is not a conveyor belt sushi restaurant but a regular restaurant. It serves inexpensive sushi. Many of the sushi varieties can be found in the Mi-ne Sushi restaurants.
Lunch sets are all under $100. Very cheap especially in the Causeway Bay area. Menu, though in Chinese, had photos of what the lunch sets would look like and what would be included.
Sushi did look exactly as the photo on the menu. But it also tasted like the menu ... not fresh, very plastic-like. I felt like I was eating take-away sushi from Park n Shop. Sushi rice was bland with no vinegar added. I was surprised I didn't get sick afterwards because bad sushi always makes me sick as I have a weak stomach.
