For lunch last week, I tried a new place. Since I haven't had a club sandwich for a long time, I decided to order this meal. After paying the cashier, I stood by the bar waiting for my order. There's a complete hierarchy in the kitchen. One man takes orders, gives them to the cooks behind him and packs food and drinks. Fast actions in there. Rice and other set meals were quick to be made. My sandwich, on the other hand, took quite some time. When I saw an omelette being handed to the "packing" guy, I knew I was in for a surprise. The club sandwich that I was expecting was what I used to have in Canada: grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise and a bit of bacon. Instead, I had luncheon meat, one lonely slice of tomato, a tiny pinch of chopped lettuce, an omelette and corned beef with mayo and peanut butter?
The combination of corned beef with peanut butter waheading the strangest of this mix. I guess the sandwich was not that horrible, but I certainly miss club sandwiches from Canada.
For half the price, one can get a better sandwich at Circle K or 7Eleven.
