I was browsing my Facebook this past weekend and saw someone share a post from a famous actor with photos of a new Xian Tian Gu in Causeway Bay, so I called godbro XO immediately to see if he was interested in trying out a new restaurant with me!  XO was interested as well, so we decided to meet up Tuesday night for an early dinner so that he can burn off the calories at tango afterwards!

I was super late getting to meet godbro as the tram took forever from Happy Valley to Causeway Bay, so I let godbro pick out what we'd have for dinner since he knows what I like.  For my beverage, he picked the Holy Pineapple as he knows my favorite cocktail has pineapple juice in it!  Then, he picked the Oyster Carbonara for my main, oyster and carbonara--two of my favorites in one dish!  And, I special requested the Souffle French Toast ahead of time since it's hard to find French toast that is not deep fried in Hong Kong!  (We were informed by our server, Wilson, that the Souffle French Toast is an exclusive at this particular branch at the moment!)

The restaurant was not hard to find as it is situated on Jaffe Road and is easily accessible via various types of transportation!  The restaurant has bay windows on the exterior, so I could see XO while I was walking up to the entrance of the restaurant.  Once inside, the decor is very homey, the tables are not set too closely next to each other, so the patrons won't feel crammed.  On the wall next to the entrance, there are hand drawn pictures on the wall that resemble a little kid's drawing which is very cute!

XO and I were seated next to the bay window, so the pedetrians outside could see us munching the whole night!

My beverage arrived promptly after I settled in my seat, and my reaction was, Holy moly, they weren't kidding with the name of the drink!  It is truly a Freshly Squeezed Holy Pineapple!

I opened the top to reveal a pineapple filled with its own juice and pulp!  I took a gulp of the drink, and surprisingly, it wasn't sour at all!  It was a combination of naturally sweet pineapple juice and chewy chopped up pineapple pieces.  Our server, Wilson, told us that they imported a special blending equipment from Japan that can be inserted in the fruit to blend up the flesh and juice of the fruit!

Next came my pasta, and, of course, the 3 plump oysters on top caught my eyes right away!

The oysters were seared to a golden brown on the outside and the inside remained succulent!  The pasta itself was al dente, and the sauce was the thicker style of Carbonara where the cream clinged to the pasta and didn't create a pool of sauce on the bottom.  The bacon and mushroom pieces in the pasta were all sauteed nicely and the flavors were fully-developed.  I've never had oysters in my carbonara, and I tried it, and I liked it!

Godbro and I had to take a little break after our heavy pasta dishes before our desserts.  I sipped on my pineapple drink to balance out the heaviness from the pasta, and a little while later, my special request arrived!  Actually, the delightful buttery, eggy aroma caught my nose first before my eyes caught the sight of the beautiful Souffle French toast.

I cut into the French toast and it had a crispy crust and a fluffy inside.  I took the first bite by itself without the ice-cream or sauce, and I could taste the sweet egg mixture with a hint of cinnamon.  It was like a little piece of heaven in my mouth.
Next, I dipped it in the vanilla ice-cream, and the half-melted ice-cream added another dimension to the flavor.  Then, I had a third bite dipped in the caramel sauce, and the caramel sauce was not cloyingly sweet or sticky!  It just clinged onto the French toast and gave it a more nutty flavor.  This French toast is nothing like the ones you can normally get from a local char charn tang.  The ones from char charn tangs are usually deep fried, so they are usually hard, crunchy, and greasy, but this was not the case at Xiao Tian Gu.  I thought XO and I were full, but somehow, we polished off the whole dish.  Well, I polished off most of it!

Although the restaurant didn't have a dinner set menu, we were pleasantly surprised that the meal came to less than $300 for each of us!  Godbro XO and I left with filled happy bellies, and my sweet tooth will probably drag me back to Xiao Tian Gu soon for more Souffle French Toast!
