My friend and I had wanted to lunch at Tim Ho Wan (actually we only like the baked BBQ pork bun, other items are just so-so) but there was a surprisingly long queue (usually a 10mins wait for two at the North Point branch). To our horror, the wait would be 30mins. We took a ticket and walked around. DONKA was just a short distance away and it looked empty inside aside from 3 other customers. So we gave in to the owner's charms and stepping in the small shop for a table for two. First impression, the interiors look really clean and neat (errr I said this about the menu earlier). We took a quick glance at the menu and picked a main each and two grilled skewers to share. We also ordered a set with appetiser, soup, and white rice for $38 extra.
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the meal. The weak seasoning in the vege dishes drew out the natural flavours of the vegetables, and complemented the heavier and meat dishes. The wait staff could however benefit from better training though.
