Dinner @ 20080831A silent sunday nite, with only two tables of guests - one of us, and the other one of a couple.We ordered 4-course sets: Foie Gras - good! crispy surface with creamy heart, though not the best i ever tasted, it's already very good. Lobster bisque - i love this soup. unlike the "thick" type, this one is watery, with a few lobster meats inside. tasted great, balance of lobster and wine flavors. yes it's a bit bitter, but i love that bitter taste. We ordered 4-course sets:
Foie Gras - good! crispy surface with creamy heart, though not the best i ever tasted, it's already very good.
Lobster bisque - i love this soup. unlike the "thick" type, this one is watery, with a few lobster meats inside. tasted great, balance of lobster and wine flavors. yes it's a bit bitter, but i love that bitter taste.
Char-grilled Australian M6 Kobe steak - thin slice of medium rare steak, very juicy, tender, not dry (well at first sight as it's so thin, i thought it'd be dry and chewy, but turned out it's not~), full of charcoal aroma!!! really not bad not bad.
Molten Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice-cream - wow this one is wonderful!!! the chocolate taste is sooooooo rich!!! it's not too "molten", but together with the smooth vanilla ice-cream, what a great enjoyment!!!!! i love it!
all dishes are good, and services in general are good as well. with that price range, i also doubt why it was so quiet on a weekend nite.
well, to be picky, just one minor point which did ruin a bit of my happy feeling. when we booked the table, we asked and knew there's no corkage charge. i re-confirmed this upon arrival at the restaurant and they helped to serve our wine. the manager then told us, "we don't charge corkage, but in return we hope guests will order some other drinks or water". as one of us did not drink, she ordered sth from the drink menu afterwards. to be frank, even you charge i will still bring my own wine, or simply order from their wine list, the point is, we will drink anyway. i don' t mind paying more, but adhering a sub-condition (order sth else) to a promise (no corkage charge) to us sounds a bit 小家. better to tell customers when they make reservation. it did give me a poor impression of 扮大方.
for food, it's nice place to go. maybe, if i return next time, i will simply order from the wine list.
