Spaghetti House is a very main stream restaurant serving pasta and pizza. I think you can find one in some mall where ever you are. As boyfriend and I were in Shatin to look at the Christmas decorations, we passed by here and noticed that afternoon tea sets included a clam chowder, main and drink for $81. I neglected to photograph the menu but I'm sure you can find it somewhere. It's in English and Chinese and there are a variety of choices for mains from pasta to pizza to sandwiches.
The clam chowder came with a puff pastry lid. I think the first time I came to Hong Kong, I was bewildered by this puff pastry topping on my soup as this is pretty much unheard of in Canada. So, this was a fun walk through time.
The puff pastry was crispy. I crushed it all in which boyfriend looked at me bewildered and asked why didn't I do it slowly. How was I to know? I didn't have this growing up! The soup was ok with bits of clams but it wasn't thick and creamy like clam chowder should be. But then this is localized Western food. The only thing I could complain about the soup was that it was lukewarm.
We shared the mains. This is baked spaghetti bolognese with Parmesan cheese. It didn't seem baked? But I guess it was as the cheese was one big melted glob on top. The pasta was ok but not clearly al dente. But at least not soggy. The bolognese sauce was more tomato based than rich in beef taste. It was ok. Taste like the ones from Cafe de Coral.
This is super deluxe plank pizza with a side of salad. The toppings included bacon, pepperoni, Italian meat sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and cheese. The pizza fared better. The crust was a thin crust and was crispy. There was not enough cheese but there really is never enough cheese. All the toppings worked well together. Too bad the salad was not dressed.
For a tea set, this was enough food for an early dinner or a late lunch. So, quite a good deal if you think about it. I would probably return again if I want to save a few dollars especially since Spaghetti House is everywhere.
