I know this bistro sets itself amidst the low-priced restaurants where the taste and prices are more important. But the service was really appalling to the extent I would not recommend it no matter what. The staff refused to give us tea (for a third person who's in the washrooms) and insisted on bringing tea when she was seated. The staff refused to give us tea (for a third person who's in the washrooms) and insisted on bringing tea when she was seated. When the person does sit down and ask for tea, it took repeated reminders before the tea arrived. And when I asked to have refills, the waiter yelled (YES, YELLED) "you have to wait for five minutes for tea refill!" - to the point our neighboring diners were shocked as we were only asking routinely and politely. The orders for drinks were mixed up and lost. The irony was that tea was refilled automatically after we settled our bills.
Run-through for the surf and turf cuisine which went very well with alcoholic drinks. The appetizer on the house was stewed beef stew - tender and marinated with a slightly sweet sauce. Roast ox tongue - thin cut with a nice chewy texture. Dried pufferfish - like dried squid, a tasty snack. Sashimi akagai - fresh, strong flavour. Tempura pumpkin & eggplants - so-so, not too crispy. Assorted sushi - average, salmon more fresh, mackerel a bit stale. Deep fry asparagus - very crispy and hot with a rich taste. Salmon & soft shell crab roll - too heavy but good for sushi lovers. Tamago too sweet.
In spite of the excellent food and the user-friendly prices, there will not be a second visit.
