On our previous visit to Ah Lung, I made the mistake of ordering a spicy vegetable curry.  Bad move - the vegetables were not really suitable for a curry - they used choi sum and cabbage.  Also, it was possibly the spiciest thing I have eaten.  I am a chili head.  I have eaten chillies with the Mexicans in Mexico, munched down on bhut jolokia chile con carne and devoured Peruvian jungle chili curries.  I have lived in Thailand and eaten pretty much everything phet mak (very spicy).  This was the

This was the spiciest - painfully so.  I couldn't finish it.  The taste, however, was really good, so we wanted to come again and give it a fair go with one of their meat curries.

This time, I had a mild chicken curry and it was much better.  Still very spicy (if you don't like much spice, go mild).  The chicken was still on the bone, which is very authentic, but quite annoying when trying to eat it from a gloopy curry.  The flavour is really good and with a salt roti, you can just spoon that stuff in your mouth using your fingers.  The curry is also thickened authentically using just onions - no corn flour or other thickeners.

The service is quick and the staff friendly.  The curry is good, but we would gladly opt for just a big bowl of the sauce and a couple of rotis if we had the option.
