For the new year, McDonald's is having daily discounted specials again, and some of them are items that are only available on that particular day! This was the case with the Strawberry Cake Crunch McFlurry, which was the special for Friday the fifth and this past Friday.I missed the special last week, so I was determined to get this special McFlurry when it became available again! I missed the special last week, so I was determined to get this special McFlurry when it became available again! From the picture on the website, it looked like a McFlurry with strawberry sundae sauce, cake pieces, and, possibly, corn flakes flurried into the McFlurry, but I was wrong.
I got to my local McDonald's a little after 10:30, and on this chilly Friday night, there was a short line at the register. There were no signs indicating whether the item was available, so I waited in line to inquire about it and place my order. Turns out, the item was available, and I was able to get it at the special price of $10. I also got a few other items which were normal items and had no issues with them, so I won't write about them.
As I was waiting for my order, I saw that there were a bunch of disposed receipts just sitting on the counter that the staff could have easily cleared.
My order took a few minutes to be prepared, and when it was ready, I was handed my Strawberry Cake Crunch McFlurry! I went to a table to snap a picture of it right away! As I peeked into it, I saw the bottom of a broken ice cream cone in there! Ah, so the "crunch" component was actually broken cone pieces, not corn flakes!

It took me about 10 minutes to walk home and devour my McFlurry. The cake pieces were like the pound cake found in the freezer section, not too bad. The crunchy cone pieces were not bad, but they could have broken it up a little more because it was just one big chunk. When I mixed everything in the McFlurry together it was pretty good.
Other than the cake pieces, all the other components are readily available in McDonald's, so they can possibly have a Strawberry Crunch McFlurry as a new option in the future?
