For as long as I can remember, I would always only have a glimpse of Dumbo Portuguese Restaurant every time I went to Megabox. Last month, finally, I had the opportunity to walk in and dine at Dumbo's. Dinner was a semi-buffet. The side dishes such as skewers, chicken wings, small size fried rice...and food at the salad bar were all-you-can eat. For the main dishes, we followed the waiter's suggestion for us six people since they were served per head. We had 3x Curry Crab Pots (3 whole crabs), 2
The crab's curry sauce was good: a little spicy, but not too much. Potatoes were soft and had absorbed enough of the sauce. It would have been nice to have plain rice to eat the curry with. As for the Roasted Pig served with fried rice, it was a bit too crunchy, but still good. The Salted Pork Leg served with fat chips and salad, however, I thought was way too salty. All I could taste was salt.
Desert was either Chocolate Fondant with ice cream or Pudding. The Chocolate Fondant was quite good. The chocolate sauce rushed out as soon as I poked the cake and made a small hole.
Food-wise it was okay, but Dumbo should make some more effort when it comes to hygiene matters. A live cockroach was sitting on top of the piled plates at the salad bar. There were also flies buzzing around. Even though I am used to seeing these things, I still think a restaurant should maintain a minimum of cleanliness. I mean this is not a "Dai Pai Dong" (food-stall market).
