Located in the Soho district, there are no reservations. You queue up like the rest of the meat lovers. And that is what boyfriend is all about. Meat. As it was his birthday, we celebrated by letting him eat as much meat as he could possibly handle. We arrived at around 8 PM where there was a number of people waiting. The hostess jotted down our name and phone number to call us back when a table was available. 10 minutes later, we were called back.


The place is described as a meat bar and that is exactly how the layout is. It is dark, cramped. Seating is on bar-like tables throughout the restaurant. There are a few larger tables  but not that many.


They sat us in front of the window facing into the kitchen where we saw all sorts of juicy cuts sliced before our eyes.

Utensils in front of us was  tiny cute meat cleaver and meat tong. To chop away at our meat.

On our plates (which was super heavy by the way) was a pair of forceps. I don't know why.

Menu is in English only. There is no 10% service charge so all tips go to the staff. What you get is a very simple menu stating the various meat mains, meat based appetizers and the sides and dessert.

They also have a limited selection of drinks but most interestingly they had  bourbon on the menu.

As it was our first time there, we decided to splurge and get the Chef tasting menu for $420 per person. And so we began.




Roasted Chicken Croquettes. This was AMAZING. The coating was crunchy. It was served on a bed of savory yet tart garlic mayo.

And inside were strands of roasted chicken meat that was sweet and savory. Moist and tender. It was soaking in gravy. This was really good.

Chicken Liver Pate.  The liver pate was in a jar with some vinegar beads and coco nibs that you are to mix together. All served on toasted buttery brioche. There was a lot of pate so spread heavily or just scoop it into your mouth like the glutton you are. The pate was rich and smooth. It wasn't too thick and the acidity from the vinegar beads helped lighten the richness of the pate.

Smoked Brisket Pastrami. This was interesting as I've always had pastrami in thin slices, made into a sandwich with mustard and pickles. And this was exactly that minus the bread.  I guess you can call it gluten free? The mustard was made with beer but I didn't really see much of a difference. I think it just made this OMG! WOW BEER!! However, the pastrami was great. Cooked to a medium rare, it was just like eating the meat straight from the deli.

Heirloom Tomatoes. A light refreshing moment from the meat. This was different types of tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, mint and ricotta. I loved the pickled cucumbers the most as it was light and refreshing. It almost tasted like watermelon.

Rotisserie Chicken. Served with a rich chicken gravy. Actually, the gravy was great. The chicken was a bit dry at parts and wasn't as flavored as we would have liked. A bit disappointing even though it looked fantastic.

Heritage Carrots. Roasted carrots drizzled in honey and topped with yogurt. Boyfriend was happy as a clam as they were sticky sweet. A vegetable he approved of.

Roast Suckling Pig. The chef tasting menu included a roast suckling pig that night. I assume this rotates. This was AMAZING. Topped with a very greasy pesto, the skin was crunchy. The meat so moist, it literally fell apart with my fork. I did not need a knife. The highlight of the entire meal.

Glasgow Salad. This was what they considered a salad. It was fries tossed in chicken salt with a miso ketchup. The miso ketchup made it taste like hoisin sauce so I really didn't dip into it. The fries, however, were great. Crispy and seasoned just right. A definitely boyfriend approved salad.

Coconut Lime Pie. The menu ended with dessert and that was a coconut lime pie. Lime curd with meringue and ice cream. I loved the meringue. Usually I don't as it just taste like sugar. But this was soft and not overly sweet. Great for dunking into the excellent lime curd and ice cream. The crust was soft shortbread and just crumbly. Rustic and beautiful end to a meat-filled evening.

Great food with excellent service. A fun atmosphere in the entire restaurant.  Good value for money as we were so full, we couldn't move. Will be back and definitely order the beef cheeks next time. And the bone marrow. And .. and ... and ....
