I had one of those dinners (after quite a while, actually), where you go in for a regular, run-of-the-mill meal and end up dedicating your week into making plans to take every single person you know to this restaurant. Ron Mak Mak takes simple Thai cuisine, and presents it beautifully and authentically, while also adopting a fun approach for some dishes, and making fusion Thai food with perfection. To demonstrate my experience, let me first tell you what all we had!
🧋Thai Iced Tea
🍋 Salted Kumquat and Lime Soda
🥓 Stir Fried Minced Pork Pani Puri
🍜 Prawn Pad Thai
🍃 Pandanus Leaf wrapped Chicken
🍗 Tom Yum Chicken Roll
🍝 Yellow Curry Cheese Rigatoni with Chicken
🥭 Glutinous Rice with Mango & Waffle Cone
3 favourites of the night - the Pad Thai, the minced pork (larb) pan puri, and the winner, surprisingly the Tom Yum Chicken Roll (I could have like 15 plates of those)! Without giving much away (so you can experience it on your own), I want to say that it was flavoured to perfection, and made with all the authentic ingredients and preparations that are extremely important for Thai cuisine.
The other dishes were also simply exceptional, it's just that these 3 stole the show 100%. Their drinks also had the perfect balance. I’ve struggled with overly sweet to overly “tea-d” Thai milk iced tea, and this one was perfect. The salted lime soda was also a perfect end of summer drink to celebrate this stunning meal! If you have some time, and are swinging by Tai Hang (or craving some madly delicious Thai food), don’t forget to try out Ron Mak Mak
