Momentai is a project of Sai Kung residents, many of whom used to be affiliated with the excellent Sai Kung restaurants Casa and Cena. They took the easy attitude and attention to quality and brought it to the Sai Kung pier to create Momentai, a place of no worries. Momentai is a project of Sai Kung residents, many of whom used to be affiliated with the excellent Sai Kung restaurants Casa and Cena. They took the easy attitude and attention to quality and brought it to the Sai Kung pier to create Momentai, a place of no worries. The restaurant is open to the water, and can drop windows or a plastic barrier in the event of poor weather. The feeling of the restaurant is quite cosy. 

This visit was my 6th to Momentai since it has opened. The menu has changed slightly a few times since it started, as the team considers what is locally available and locally desired. During this visit, I had the house-made mulled wine -- pungent and rich, with a hint of sweetness -- and a scrumptious crab salad with fresh greens, an onsen (lightly boiled) egg, and lump crab meat. (This was a change from the previous version, which served a fried soft-shell crab atop a green salad. The new version is lighter, and allows you to savour the sweetness of the crab. A very welcome change!) My partner enjoyed a Hong Kong local beer and the chicken wrapped in bacon -- tender and juicy and delicious. 

Momentai can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as during the weekend days as people sit to have a drink of tea or beer and enjoy the fine weather of Sai Kung. There are sometimes events in the evening -- always check their Facebook page to find out!
