Granville Island is a peninsula in Vancouver, Canada popular for a short vacation. It has a lot of markets featuring day vendors, fresh foods and artists along its coast. It has inspired the concept of Granville Island Hong Kong chain with strong and hearty North American dining culture featuring good meat and good beers, though they have vegetarian options as well for brunches or a la carte.High Street needs a few minutes of hike up from Sai Ying Pun MTR, you can certainly rely on that elevator

High Street needs a few minutes of hike up from Sai Ying Pun MTR, you can certainly rely on that elevator. From there you can see the harbour afar.

When I first visited it at High Street, I was very impressed by its long beer list. They have over 60 beers available, some are on display by the walls, it's like a mini beer museum. They change their beer list as often as 2 weeks so beer and mega-meat lovers would certainly enjoy Granville at this mini Soho street similar as Soho in Central.

First came the beer ---- a Vancouver lager suitable for poisson (fish, as stated in the description on the bottle). It's slightly bubbly and nice.

I ordered a Shashouka (98HKD), something similar as tomato cheese spaghetti but with the noodles being replaced as eggs and toasted bauguettes. The sauce is quite sour but once used as a bauguette dipping it's fine.

Inside the metal pot, there are plentiful clams executed with butter and parsley (168HKD). Creamy on the nose, the clams are also quite tangy due lemon juices but refreshing. A big bowl of clam soup is left behind ---- perfetto!

The half free range chicken (168HKD) is juicy and its meat very smooth. The texture is completely different from normal chickens which are dry and coarse.

It was unusual for a bar and restaurant showing local news on TV but that's what I like.

I noticed people licking their lips for Buffalo wings and Aussie tenderloin. They looked enormous and super yummy, especially the tenderloin at just 158HKD for just a lunch set! Its meat is dinner standard without tenderizer! Will give it a try next time!
