After waking up late in the afternoon after doing an extremely busy night shift, I was hungry for food. As work was exhausting during the night, I wanted something a little quiet yet filling so all day breakfast was what I was after.Ocio is a small cafe located in Causeway Bay. Seating is cramped together. I've been here before for just waffles and never tried their all day breakfast as many say it's pretty good. So, today was the day to do so. Ocio is a small cafe located in Causeway Bay. Seating is cramped together. I've been here before for just waffles and never tried their all day breakfast as many say it's pretty good. So, today was the day to do so. They have a choice of regular all day breakfast or a vegetarian version. But since I know I won't eat the fries, I chose the regular version. It included a cup of coffee or tea. I ordered a latte.
My latte was pretty bad. The coffee was weak. So weak, it felt like I was drinking warm milk. But the amount of foam added....there was so much foam, I think I drank half the cup that was all foam before I got the actual coffee. Please Mr. Barista ... latte is one shot of expresso to steamed milk and a thin layer of foam. If the foam is so thick, it's called a cappuccino. Yeah ... today was definitely not the day for bad coffee.
My all day breakfast came with a scrambled egg, salad, bacon, German sausage, baked beans and half a waffle. There was quite a lot on the plate. Sadly, it was a bit hit and miss. The scrambled eggs were fluffy yet not seasoned. At all. The salad was over drenched with balsamic vinegar yet the greens were crunchy. The cherry tomatoes were hot so obviously heated but they weren't roasted long enough to make them soft and bursting with sweetness. They should have left it on the grill until they burst. Bacon was alright. Baked beans were of the canned variety as expected. I don't think any one in Hong Kong does their own baked beans. German sausage was crispy but should have been grilled a bit longer to let it be more fragrant. The waffle was crunchy enough yet I had no syrup so was left being dry.
Though the place was quiet with a few customers, the only noise coming was from the staff who were talking loudly together. They were deciding on a place to order take out dessert and I heard every single word as their recited their orders to a coworker. To me, that was unprofessional.It's an all day breakfast that wasn't great. It had a few good and bad things about it. I won't order it again. Coffee was horrible. Won't return.
