From the SOHO escalator, I took a quick glance into COAST's bar area and couldn't help notice the familiar sight of an obviously dead serious Coffee Machine Area set-up: and so this attracts me to take a closer look! It later transpired from the quick read of the front menu, it revolves around a sea related theme - and COAST sells Aussie Food and Drinks, including my long lost friend the V.B. Beer (VICTORIA BITTER) On Tap too! From the items listed, which centers around warmer-weather or
From the items listed, which centers around warmer-weather oriented Surf & Turf, Kangaroo or other seafood items popular in touristy coastal areas, I already figured this couldn't be from Melbourne as one don't see such items offered down south. I'm guessing this family run business originates from North-East, perhaps Queensland somewhere?

CAFFE LATTE -
Made by a friendly Aussie lady, when this arrived I knew I was in for a treat just from the nose alone. It has a nice, stickily-sweet note initially and the taste a mixture of mainly cashew nuts and dark chocolate, also a slight woodiness that grips the tongue and creates a gritty sensation. Note: it reminds me of Jupiter for some reason. Its a very fresh and perfectly roasted coffee for an 'imported bean', the flavours jumps right out at you! Long long finish in the mouth.... a completely forgotten sensation! Reminds me of both Coco Espresso but minus the higher acidity, also slightly of FUEL but minus the spice and savouriness.
Here, its bolder and stronger, a tad more bitter - yet more Alive and 3 Dimensional in a way, almost Artisanal in approach. I wouldn't say this style of beans blending is one of my personal favourites as I prefer them a bit less 'in your face' and 'smooth & polished', but its highly impressive in that its been roasted expertly as it retains the original desired underlying complexity and layers. Also made quite well here by Kate! Milk was also velvety!
CAPPUCINO -
A later order which I took a few sips to test, it performed similarly and again quite enjoyable. I think it needed some more froth on top though and could be slightly more smoother too!

I was told the Coffee is COAST's own Special Blend. Note that this shouldn't be treated as representing Aussie coffees, as the number of blending styles available spread over a very large spectrum. There are in fact a few shops locally which carry some Australian Coffees in Hong Kong, under the the radar. A quick recollection include: One Bar (di Manfreddi), Antique Patisserie (Vittoria), Percy's (MERLO), Safety Stop (di Manfreddi but another blend), plus some hotel lounges, etc.
The one here however is not for the faint-hearted, as its quite bold in nature and could appear slightly bitter to some. They also sell a Piccolo Latte here, a smaller version of a Latte and even more stronger, its a hightly popular drink along with Soy Caffe Latte in many Aussie Cities - but they're harder to come by in Hong Kong for some reason, the latter even becoming a signature drink at a local shop in 柴灣.
COFFEE: HIGH '4' - LOW '5'
*Some Menu Typos: (Proscuitto - Prosciutto, Cerviche = Ceviche, Omlette = Omelette,
Latte = Caffe Latte)
