This place has gone downhill since I last ate here in early 2009. From 2007 to 2009 this was a staple - a standard, reliable, good value for money yummy place to eat. The waiter really annoyed me with a really petty stand he took when I was paying the bill. I was giving the exact money and he saw me counting out my gold coins to make up the last dollar. "Uh, sir", he said, "we don't take cents". I looked at him as if to say "huh"? "We don't take cents", he repeated.
"But it's legal tender", I said. "It's money".
But it was his next response that annoyed me.
"But the bank won't accept it".
Since when has any bank in Hong Kong refused to accept coinage that is legal tender and issued by the HK authorities?
What a load of crap.
It is this kind of ridiculous pettiness that really annoys me.
Food:
Just isn't as good as it used to be. The pho was ok but my other favourite, the cold vermicelli noodles (bun) with pork didn't do it for me. The pork was too dry.
Prices are pretty fair.
Environment:
I preferred the old decor. No big deal.
Sorry Nha Trang, but I ain't never comin' back.
