Choi Fook is a popular chain of Chinese restaurants that focus on Cantonese dishes. All their restaurants are very glamorously decorated, with crystal chandeliers, etc as they are focused on wedding receptions in the evening.

Dim sum menu is like many places. You check off what you want. Menu is in Chinese but an English is available upon asking. They have an interesting list of dim sum that they said they won awards for.  Curious, we ordered a few of those.

Crab Stuffed Spring Rolls ($48). An award winning dim sum item, this was fairly good. There was a lot of crab meat and shitake mushroom mixture stuffed into it and the wrapping was crispy and not oily at all. Just to let you know, the head is clearly for decoration.

Deep Fried Shrimp Wrapped in Noodles ($33).  I recalled having this with my aunt so we ordered this here. The noodles were so crispy that when you bite into them, they fly all over the place. Definitely not a dim sum to choose if you are trying to look dignified. What was inside was like a shrimp salad mixture. So, what you get is a combination of sweet and savory.

Fried Dumplings with Dipping Sauce ($28).  A play on the usual item that I get at a wedding banquet, this is a pork dumpling that is fried so you get a savory sweet filling. The dipping sauce is also sweet and something I always wondered why it was needed to dip a crunchy fried item and make it soggy. But none the less, it's popular. It did look pretty and tasty. The skin wasn't too thick as well.

Siu Mai Topped with Abalone ($35). I think we ordered this because I wanted siu mai and boyfriend said why not try one of these? The abalone was soft and really was more for a decoration than actually adding an additional element to the dish. But it was gave that ooohh factor. The siu mai was bigger in size as well and the filling was pretty juicy.

Abalone Braised Chicken Feet ($40). Probably the best item we ordered. The chicken feet was braised so it was soft. The sauce it was cooked in was delicious. Not too salty but not too sweet as well. A pretty good balance of flavors. There was also slices of mushrooms in it.

Shrimp Dumplings ($27).  The shrimp meat was fresh and firm. The skin was thin enough without falling apart.

Steamed Pork Spare Ribs ($23). This was  bit average as the spare ribs seemed to be coated in something that made it seem a bit to gummy in texture.

Braised Beef Tripe ($23). The beef tripe was moist from braising. The sauce was rich but a bit on the peppery side. I liked it enough.

Dim sum. I love it. This place does a fairly good job. It's not great but it's not bad. Interesting they have award winning dim sum dishes as I wonder .. who gives out these awards? Price is not expensive and seating is comfortable. A bonus in big chain type restaurants.
