This is one such place.

Storerooms No. 3 is actually an exhibition area/shop/cafe. Is that enough slashes for you? They have an art exhibtionarea on one floor where you can find some interesting items made by local artists and craftsmen. The cafe is on anothe floor where you can find more items for sale by local craftsmen. A lot of items are a really beautiful and definitely one of a kind if you are one of those people that want to wear only one of a kind clothes. The cafe has a few tables and you basically help yourself to utensils and drinking water.

But the cafe has one thing that is different than others. They let you pay whatever you feel the food is worth. Thus menu is in Chinese only (but the drinks menu is in English and Chinese). They offer coffee and tea and whatever the daily desserts they've whipped up for the day.

The food menu changes daily or whatever is their whim. At the time I saw they were baking little cookie shots.

Order and pay at the cashier and they''ll call you when your food is ready.

Boyfriend and I ordered a few things. He had the pineapple oolong tea. It was pretty good with chunks of pineapple that have been sweetened in syrup. I assume canned as it had that texture. But the oolong was previously steeped in pineapple so it was seriously flavored with it.

I had a latte and was decent enough. No pretty latte art but it really wasn't needed. It was a good cup of coffee. Not fantastic as there was far too much foam. But the coffee was strong enough with  slight nutty taste.

This is the lemon Earl Gray bar. This was not only beautiful to look at but perfect. There was not too sour and not too sweet. It had a sharp lemon taste that was balanced by the Earl Gray cream on top. The bar was moist and sticky. It was great.

Originally I wanted the lavender lemon tart but as it appeared to be made to order, the staff couldn't get it to work out so apologized and asked us to choose something else. We chose the caramel flan. This was one of the best flans I've had in Hong Kong in a LONG LONG time. It was smooth yet creamy. The caramel sauce was sweet but not too much. The flan had a strong taste of vanilla.

At each table they have a box for you to drop off what you feel what you order is worth. I plunked down $100 each for our meal. The drinks were good. But the desserts were top notch. Perhaps one of the best I've had in a long time. I will be back.
