Royal Tea has been in the Mong Kok area for a quite a while. But with so many new tea shops that open and close along that whole street, I always seem to forget about it as it's near the end of the street. But on this day, we walked by it and noticed a big beer sign propped outside. Did it now serve alcohol?The menu continues to serve various tea versions. Menu is in English and Chinese. But inside we saw shot glasses. It appeared to be like a bar. The staff informed us that they now offer various tea cocktails. And on Friday evenings, they even have live band. Apparently, they've made this place into a little bar.
I had a mango slush ($30). This was really good. Thick and sweet with an intense taste of mango. This would have been better with cheese foam but I wasn't sure at the time so left it off. Now, in retrospect, I should have added it.
Boyfriend decided to have a beer as they did offer this and a beer is great on a hot summer day. He decide to try something from their cocktail menu and had the Cheesy Malt ($78). It was a Suntory Premium Malt topped with cheese foam. Honestly, the cheese foam is really good. I've heard good things about the cheese foam here and they were not wrong. It was strong and cheesy. Thick and the right amount of saltiness. Topping it on the beer was definitely different and oddly worked.
Pretty good drinks. I also loved that there was seating inside with lovely air conditioning. So needed in this hot weather. Will have to walk by to see how they arrange the live band next time.
