Having been a fan of No Signboard in Singapore and also their Macau shop (which sadly closed last year), I am proud to be the first to write a review. We heard that the shop opening last week and immediately made a booking for 12 people.Positive Reviews* the food was great. when booking the table, we asked if they used sri-lanka crab like the singapore shops and they said yes.* we started off with 2 crabs (chilli style) and 2 crabs (white pepper style) and fried mantau, i'd say its 80% of the t
Positive Reviews
* the food was great. when booking the table, we asked if they used sri-lanka crab like the singapore shops and they said yes.
* we started off with 2 crabs (chilli style) and 2 crabs (white pepper style) and fried mantau, i'd say its 80% of the taste of singapore. for my favorite chilli crab, it was slightly more hot/spicy, and slightly more oily, and slightly less egg white used in the sauce. but its still VERY GOOD. crabs were around $750 per crab, which was more expensive than singapore but i guess acceptable in HK.
* we also had deep fried oat prawn (cost around $70 per piece) which was slightly overcooked and a bit too sweet... and also some vegies...
Disappointments
* the service wasnt fantastic. but i guess its acceptable for 1st week when they iron out the operational deficiencies. we ordered a second round of crab and they totally left out the order. we had to wait 45min. we ordered 2 x Ku Lo Yuk (it didnt even show up).
* the decoration is not comfortable. do not expect the comfort level of the venetian or esplanade restaurant styles. its more like a over-lit modern deco western restaurant which i dont really like. if you have 2 people, make sure you request not to have the table right outside the toilet.
* no crayfish or some of the other dishes lik.e Kailan/tofu available.
