Went for drinks, but ended up having dinner as well.First, Prost is big with a lot of tables, but when we left, 7:30 pm, the restaurant was full. German foods, like Brutwurst, ... Pork Knuckle, and Schnitzel, must be getting popular here, which is kind of surprising. Immediately, I noticed the spacious open kitchen fitted with industrial baking ovens. First, Prost is big with a lot of tables, but when we left, 7:30 pm, the restaurant was full. German foods, like Brutwurst, ... Pork Knuckle, and Schnitzel, must be getting popular here, which is kind of surprising.
Immediately, I noticed the spacious open kitchen fitted with industrial baking ovens. Prost, in fact, bake their own pretzel. If you sit close, you can see the actions inside.
Once we settled, I had myself a dark brown lager: Arcobräu Schloss Dunkel, half a litre of fresh, cold, delightful beer: 一流.
We had couple of appertizers: Beer pretzels with 2 dips (liver, and eggplant). Pretzels were freshly baked, so don't expect the crunchy kind. With the spreads, they hit the spot. Portion-wise, could be a tad bigger... just saying. Then, we have the Shrimp balls with Fries (forgot the offical name on the menu). Fries were crisp, fresh and hot. Shrimp ball had an appetizing fragrance, nice coating, and tasted really good.
Then we saw the waiters serving pork knuckle and sausages platter...they looked too yummy to pass on, so we stayed, and ordered the Pork Knuckle and Schnitzel. The schnitzel wan't as crispy and tasty as I knew it to be. In fact, the coating came out falling apart easily... However, the Pork Knuckle was the star. The skin was crisp, and the meat was tender. Sauerkraut was not too sour, so good! It was too much for three of us, so I brought the left over bone and meat home, and made a wonderful pork bone brooth for my Japanese ramen the next day! Definitely good value for the money.
With appertizers, two drinks per person, and 2 entrées, each paid $400.That's a steal in HK!
