Recently I had a pleasure to visit a newly opened Colombian restaurant Viche on Water street, between Sai Ying Pun and HKU. Opened by Marimba bar team only a month ago.Ambience and decor - 4.5/5Unfortunately, I have not taken photos of the beautiful wall art in traditional style and small Colombian souvenirs. The restaurant is not too big and more suitable for friends gathering or casual date. Staff is very friendly and will happily explain the menu.Food We came for dinner very hungry and wanted to try the most traditional dishes.Empanadas calenas (beef) - 5/5They were the best! Came very warm with creamy sauce and additional chilli sauce. Highly recommended to try, they can serve half-half chicken and beef.Ceviche de camaron Colombiano - 4.5/5Most traditional ceviche in Hong Kong, very fresh and slightly spicy. The crunchy banana chips and tomato sauce add interesting touch.Bandeja paisa - 4.5/5Traditional and very filling dish of South America served with different meats (pork and beef) and roasted banana. Portion is good for two people.Tres leches cake - 100/5Traditional cake soaked in three different milks: regular milk, condensed milk and whipped cream. Highly recommended to try, the size is enough for two people.Cocktail (name forgotten) - 4/5Refreshing cocktail based on coconut milk, not too sweet and not strong.ConclusionBring your friends to try most of the dishes, I will definitely come with bigger group ☺️

Hong Kong is not known for its Latin American cuisine, so I was very excited when I learnt that a new Colombian restaurant had opened in Sai Ying Pun. The decor of the restaurant was nice and clean, with beautiful murals drawn across their walls. The menu offered a variety of South American staples such as ceviche and Empanadas, but at the chef's behest, I opted for something different and started with the Arepas. Arepas are a corn-based patty and Viche offers a choice between beef, seafood, and chicken: I went with the latter two and was delighted by the texture of the Arepas, the seasoning of both the shrimp and chicken, and the roundness of the garlic sauce to balance everything out.Still feeling hungry, I challenged myself by ordering the Bandeja Paisa: a mixed platter of rice, beans, ground beef, sausage, chicharron, avocado, plantains, and arepas, all topped with a fried egg. By the end of the meal, any sense of hunger was satisfied from the sweetness of the plantains, the crunchiness of the pork (chicharron), smokiness of the sausage, and creaminess of the beans and rice. This meal is not for the faint of heart, but if you come ready, you will be guaranteed a hearty meal that goes perfectly well with an afternoon nap. Will be back next time to try out their other signature dishes!

We've never had Colombian food before, so we wanted to give it a try, and were very impressed. All of the dishes and drinks we ordered were unique and tasted great. The "Chuleta Valluna" and "Bandeja Paisa" were particularly tasty, with each type of meat seasoned with an interesting combination of spices that made for a unique culinary experience. Viche brings refreshing new flavors to Hong Kong and manages to do so relatively affordably, with decent service, a sufficiently nice ambiance, and at a very high quality. If you're looking for something just a bit different, we would highly recommend this restaurant.
