Best Mex I've had

Food is the best mex i've had in town so far.Had: 1. Carnitas enchiladas: delicious, juicy meat, just the right amount of cheese and flavor. Large but not supersized. Coudl have used a bit more sauce2. Fish tacos: fantastic, they used fried fish which is good - not beer battered more like a panko batter, but still good. Also perfect size - too many joints in town take the mexican street taco too far and make these tiny ones that end up being not great value - or they go the other direction and m

Food is the best mex i've had in town so far.

Had:
1. Carnitas enchiladas: delicious, juicy meat, just the right amount of cheese and flavor. Large but not supersized. Coudl have used a bit more sauce

2. Fish tacos: fantastic, they used fried fish which is good - not beer battered more like a panko batter, but still good. Also perfect size - too many joints in town take the mexican street taco too far and make these tiny ones that end up being not great value - or they go the other direction and make ginormous heaps of food with too much cheese or something. These were just right

3. Taquitos: amazing!! so crispy, juicy, had some cheese in it, came with guac and sour cream.

Everything was made fresh to order right there and the tortillas were tasty.

Only criticism would be that plates don't include like the rice and beans or something that you may get elsewhere, but i would definitely return over any other mex place. Also a bit far from where i live.

Place also reminds me of a cali tacqueria a bit

Not as good as they say

I read great reviews about this place in both HK Magazine and Time Out, but I have to say I was disappointed. I had the pork burrito and it was nothing special. The overall taste was bland and it was just full of rice and beans, not much pork. Plus they were VERY stingy with the salsa, only giving you one tiny little tub of it on the side. Can't say I'll be going back, even tho it's very close to my place. I'd rather go to Taco Loco in Central.

Disappointed and sick

This seemed like a good new place to try, given the lack of Mexican places in the neighbourhood. We were optimistic by having a new choice.However at the time it was very disappointing. The service was surly at best from the two women serving behind the counter, who couldn't raise even a glimmer of a welcome smile, despite us being the only people in the place. This seemed like a good new place to try, given the lack of Mexican places in the neighbourhood. We were optimistic by having a new choice.

However at the time it was very disappointing. The service was surly at best from the two women serving behind the counter, who couldn't raise even a glimmer of a welcome smile, despite us being the only people in the place. The food (Beef Burrito and Enchilada Pollo) was served on flimsy paper plates, and was very "nothing". It was a struggle to find any beef in the burrito, which was tasteless and about 80% rice. The enchilada could best be described as a greasy splodge of cheese and a few bits of chicken on a plate. Definitely over-priced at $158 incl Coke/Bottle of water. At the time I thought it was a waste of money. McDonalds up the street would have been better.

Worst of all was that that evening i went down with food poisoning, and I threw up violently overnight, right up until the following lunchtime. The doctor diagnosed it as a food-borne infection, and was keen to know exactly where I had eaten, so he himself could avoid it. A week afterwards I am still on anti-biotics, and still feel very rough.

Avoid this place at all cost

Great value, great taste, carona with lime!

This place is brand new in Sai Ying Pun, open less than 2 weeks now, and deserves attention.The menu is simple and has real Mexican meat choices such as Carne Asada, Carnitas, and the Southern Californian staple Fish Taco. The menu is simple and has real Mexican meat choices such as Carne Asada, Carnitas, and the Southern Californian staple Fish Taco. The prices are extremely well placed (40-65HK) for the quality of food. The menu has all the main options; Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas, Enchiladas, Nachos, etc.

I had a Carne Asada burrito my first time. The Carne Asada is well marinated and chopped. The burrito contains an entire meal inside including mexican rice, sour cream, cheese, onions, and refried beans wrapped in a big flour tortilla. It is delicious. Next time I may opt for the beans on the outside so I can get more of the Carne Asada's flavor in each bite. The onions used are sweet and flavorpacked. Plus, they have Tapatio hot sauce if you like to spice things up a bit (my favorite hot sauce).

I have also now tried their Carnitas taco and their Chicken taco. The Carnitas taco came on a corn tortilla (as it should) with some of those onions again, and I can definitely give this a thumbs up for flavor. It can be consumed in 4 bites, but your order comes with 2! So, you aren't left without a second chance to enjoy. The chicken taco had a good flavor but with the other choices available (carne, carnitas, and fish) I don't see myself going for this one often.

They serve Corona with a lime (if you ask nicely) which obviously compliments any of their dishes and is necessary to complete the experience. There are also shots of tequilla available if you want the complete mexican experience.

This is not a restaurant, or a taco stand. It is something in between. It is pretty small inside but there are pleanty of seats and places to chomp away. This place is more of a place to drop in, grab a quick bite (quick and delicious), and be on your way. And I really like that.

The owners are from Los Angeles, California. So, this is as close to classic So Cal mexican as Hong Kong has. Being from So Cal myself, I'm happy they opened and give it two thumbs up. I'll be there once a week minimum.
