Having read a lot about ABC Kitchen recently and also highly recommended to me by my gweilo boss, I had the opportunity to try the place out yesterday for lunch. The good bits:- The carrot soup and the homemade bread were very, very nice!- Absolutely fell in love with the roasted suckling pig - the meat was very juicy and tender, and the skin was so crispy! My mouth just waters thinking about it!- The pesto and tomato pizza was very good. Never had pesto with a pizza before and I was surprise
The good bits:
- The carrot soup and the homemade bread were very, very nice!
- Absolutely fell in love with the roasted suckling pig - the meat was very juicy and tender, and the skin was so crispy! My mouth just waters thinking about it!
- The pesto and tomato pizza was very good. Never had pesto with a pizza before and I was surprised how well it went together!
- The creme brulee was very creamy....hmm...yum....
- The toffee and banana pie was very nice, very rich in toffee.
- I was told the cream puff was very delicious (I didn't try it though)
The down side:
- the mushroom risotto was too bland; not enough taste.
- as for the spagetti (part of the lunch set, can't even remember what it was called), all I have to say is that I can make much better at home.
- Can't work out what flavour the mousse we had was. The only thing that strike out was that it was the jelly bits on top....just very jello-like, and the texture of the mousse was surprisingly firm (for a mousse)
Overall, my feeling towards ABC is mixed - some of the foods were very good and definitely worth coming back for, but at the same time, I was disappointed, esp. based on the reviews/recommendations it receives. Based on the location and environment, it is actually not that cheap.
I had been a fan of M at the Fringe and was somewhat let down by this experience......I really really wish that M at the Fringe would come back!!!!
