We honestly knew what to expect going in but even then we were disappointed. Food first: we ordered an All Day Breakfast and a pasta with spinach and chicken. The former was very sub-standard: a flattened sort-of-croissant (?), an egg, 2 patties, sausage slices, a hashbrown; they taste like they were pre-made and then reheated, overcooked/burnt in fact. We waited for almost an hour for the pasta to come and it was really bland. The chicken, the spinach, the cream all tasted the same... but it got better after I added salt and pepper. The overall sentiment was "... Ok la." Waaay overpriced.
Next, the decor. The first thing I saw was a notice on their door saying they're not affiliated with Warner Bros or Harry Potter, and I assume that's because they are infringing on copyrights. I'm not sure this sign is doing anything but draw more attention to the fact. As this is a themed cafe, the focus should be on the decor and the quality of the food is more or less forgiven (at least for us), but while in general the restaurant looks nice, the main attractions for photo taking were done in a very sloppy way. As a display, it's fine. But the lighting and placement of tables made it very difficult for us to take good photos. The set was also right in the middle of the restaurant so it was awkward for us.
We would expect to take the photo of the trolley at the sides but we had to be practically on top of other customers, and/or face-to-the-wall, literally, to take the shot. Thankfully, the table wasn't occupied at the time. They had the spotlight on a plushie-Hedwig, which blew out our photos. There were some broomsticks around but I'm not sure if they're only decorations or props for photos because they were even more impossible than the trolley! Lastly, there was a dementor hanging from the black ceiling, which was ingenious of them because it's black on black lol
The menu was disappointing. There were so many creative opportunities! But instead they were 2 sheets of laminated paper. They named the food after items in the books but it was all in Chinese and it was hard to understand, for those of us who read the original/English version of the books, anyway.
The staff was friendly but not helpful in the least. I asked for salt and pepper. They only gave me salt. I had to ask again for the pepper. I also asked for brown sugar for my coffee (it came with a pack of white sugar) and the wait came back with more white sugar. I asked again and he said they don't have any brown sugar.
After paying the bill in cash because they don't accept credit cards, the staff bade us farewell, struggling so much on the Chinese name of what we assume is "Hogwarts" she gave up.
