This place was not easy to find , the place is hidden within a passage leading to some apartments. The restaurant was really small (looks bigger in the picture), there were 3 tables that can seat 4 each outside and 3 that can seat 2 each inside. The place only operates till 8 in the evening, I got there at 7pm, it was a gamble to queue hoping to get a seat and some food before 8!When I finally got a seat, I knew what I wanted to eat already so I promptly placed my order! When I finally got a seat, I knew what I wanted to eat already so I promptly placed my order! The food is not pre-prepared, chicken is only chopped when you order, vegetables fried upon ordering and even then, they fry it by the order not by batches.
I had:
1) 1 roasted chicken - it was really good, the skin had the brown crisp taste that you get in a Singapore hawker stall. The chilli sauce was good, it had a kick to it that was missing from most shops in HK and the dark sauce, the right thick type that you usually can't get in HK
2) Chicken rice - the rice was fragrant , they used thai fragrant rice and cooked it perfectly that each grain was fluffy and flavourful. The downside, it was a tad oily
3) Bak Kut Teh - This was okay, not the star of the shop but nevertheless, the warm soup just hits a spot in your stomach
4) Fried vegetables in belachan - nicely done, not overly cooked that the veggies became soggy and had the right amount of belachan. My only complain is it would have been perfect if they used sambal belanch!
Between the 2 of us we polished off a whole chicken, rice, vegetables, bak ku teh and drinks! It was a wonderful meal leaving us thinking when we should venure here again!
