With the extreme heat, I find it difficult to sit still and have a nice meal. I hope they can do something as soon as possible, since summer just started not long ago.

I'm a repeat diner at this lovely restaurant so I keep it brief...Had yet another wonderful lunch. The staff was very attentive, the food came fairly quickly and it was very nice from start to finish. I had a whole selection of apptizers, from Chicken Skewers to Spring Rolls - all very good and just enough to tease the tastbuds without spoiling my appetite for the main course. For mains I had chosen the Tom Yum Kung which was rich but not too salty and creamy but not too coconutty... just right.

In particular the sago pudding with mango mousse topping was incredible! I'll definitely have to order that one again. Thanks Ayuthaiya for yet another great lunch! <3

The thing I like about Ayuthaiya is the open front. You really get the best of both worlds: while cosily snuggling into a comfortable velvet couch you can watch the street life roll past. And what better way to wash off a hard day’s work than with one of their excellent cocktails. Inspired by all the passing taxis, I decide to give the “Taxi of Bangkok” a try. And what better way to wash off a hard day’s work than with one of their excellent cocktails. Inspired by all the passing taxis, I decide to give the “Taxi of Bangkok” a try. It was happy hour and I must say that this was very good value for money with a big fresh cocktail that reminded me a little of an exotic sangria and went down a treat in the warm evening air. The “Ice Hockey” cocktail also was very good, while crowned with a fresh wedge of lemon, it was quite strong through refreshing, and not too sweet.
We started our dinner with a Tom Yum Goong (hot & sour prawn soup), which was very flavourful and with just the right amount of coconut milk to take the edge of the rich spices, but without being too thick or oily. The Miang Khem (Betel leaf roll with galangal, ginger, peanut, chilli, shallot, lemongrass, chilli, palm sugar & jam - my absolute favourite and “must have” whenever I eat Thai food) was very satisfying. It’s quintessentially a little parcel bursting with the freshness of all that is good in Thai cuisine. The Chor Moang tasted a lot better than it looked (the steamed dumplings with red curry salmon) were a bit out of shape, but the taste was very nice. The Yum Som O (pomelo salad with shredded chicken and shrimp) was glorious, though as veterans of spicy Thai cuisine, we chose add some coarse chilli powder which the friendly waiter was happy to provide for us. The Phad Thai (fried Thai noodles with prawns, bean curd, dried shrimps, peanuts & bean sprouts) was just perfect and though we didn’t manage to finish it all, because we had clearly over-indulged, the meal was absolutely wonderful and we’ll both be back again soon!

I would say even better than some of the well-known Thai restaurant in town. I especially like the prawn sashimi - prawns are very fresh and sweet. Love it!

For main, we had curry beef cheek, sautéed cabbage sprouts and peppercorn king prawns. These were also very good. But I still like the prawn sashimi best.

We also managed to have 2 more dessert pumpkin pudding and the famous sticky rice with mango. Again, they were both good but I am no big fan of dessert (but definitely big fan of chilli) ... so not in a good position to judge.

In summary, our meal was very good. Staffs were very friendly and attentive. Even if you do not eat Thai food, the place is good for having a couple drinks and snacks with friends after work, before night out, etc.

Definitely will go back again whenever I feel like having Thai food in Central!

Apparently they do that for every birthday dinner for 10 people and more. We had a set dinner that my friend had previously worked out with the management, which involved some great Lamb Shank in red Curry, Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, King Prawns with Crispy Garlic and Salmon and Red Curry Dumplings (just to name my favourites). The dishes were placed in the middle and everybody got the chance to taste everything. It was really a great way to celebrate a birthday. I will definitely go back for my own birthday!!!

When I heard that my friends chose Ayuthaiya for our mid-week gathering, I was delighted! After many visits to this trendy Hollywood Road joint, Ayuthaiya still manages to surprise me with unusual and exciting dishes. I was ravenously hungry and started on the crunchy “Kao Tang” (rice crackers) to go with my fresh lime soda. We had asked the charming manager to take the burden of choice off us and bring us whatever he thought was best. Chatting and enjoying the balmy evening air while being perched on a lofty seat by a tall table near the open French window, I let my eyes and nose take in the delights as one delectable dish after another was set before us. First came the relishes, which are an absolute must try. The most memorable dips were the "Prig Pla Salid Heang" (pounded Gourami fish, caramelized shallots with garlic and palm sugar) and the “Na Tang Chae” (peanut, coconut milk with Massaman curry), which were served with a selection of fried and raw betel leaves, rice cakes, crispy squares and lettuce leaves, which were ideal carriers for the relishes. After that, we had the “Chor Moang” (steamed dumpling with red curry salmon), which had slightly underwhelmed me last time. HOWEVER, the chef obviously changed something, because this time the texture of the dough was light and elastic, but not chewy, and the temperature, consistency and flavour of the whole package was perfectly balanced. Unfortunately, these little gems disappeared far too quickly from our table, so I never got the chance of a second helping. Next came the “Miang Khem Ayuthaiya”, my absolute favourite – a perfectly balanced concoction of galangal, ginger, peanut, chilli, shallot, lemongrass, palm sugar and jam that is then wrapped into a fresh betel leaf before being transferred whole into the mouth, where it triggers a firework of sensual delight, tantalizing every taste bud in a symphony of flavours. (As my brother once put it: "It's like music on your tongue!") Next, we had some “Tom Ka Goong” (a custom-made seafood option of the "Tom Ka Gai" soup with sour tamarind and coconut milk). The soup was perhaps a little too mild for my seasoned, chilli craving mouth but to most novice Thai diners, it is probably a pleasant interlude before the next taste explosion. The next dish I tried was the “Pla Tun Nam Tok” (seared tuna loin with Thai tea leaves and lemongrass sauce) and – wow! That dish deserves 10 out of 10 for flavour, presentation, aroma, texture, succulence, just everything – purrrfect! We then tucked into “Por Pia Poo Nim” (baby soft shell crab rice paper roll with ripened mango, ginger root and Thai herbs), and to my surprise I must say that the crab was much less oily than I expected. The taste was light and crisp and the mango lifted the whole taste experience. As we moved on to the main courses, I was nearly full up already, but I had to try a few more dishes… The “Homok Talay” (seafood in banana leaves with red curry and Thai herbs) was cooked to perfection and the spice was just right so as not to be too overpowering. The "Pad Yod Kha Naeng" (sauteed cabbage sprouts) were absolutely delicious. From experience, I know that it is very difficult to get this Thai vegetable, and I was happy to see that the chef sauteed it just the right amount of time (and with the lid off, so as not to wilt the veg). The "Phad Thai" (fried Thai noodles with prawns, bean curd, dried shrimps, peanuts and bean sprouts) was a delight as always. The noodles being the perfect consistency, not too ‘al dente’, not too mushy, and served with the traditional condiments of peanut, sugar as well as fresh lime, spring onion and coriander. I did make an effort and tried the fried Thai fish, which was also very yummy, but I couldn't do the dessert any justice and had to pass on the "Bua Loy Nam Khing" and "Bua Loy Katee" (rice dumplings in sweet ginger with red sugar and rice dumplings in sweet coconut milk, respectively). Our 'juniors' at the table visibly enjoyed their exotic ice creams, too. All in all, it was a fantastic meal that left you wanting for nothing but a sedan chair to carry you home…
Well done, Ayuthaiya team – you never fail to impress!

We have eaten at ayuthaiya many times and every time we are so impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the service. The food menu offers some very interesting dishes that you won't find on the average menu in other Thai restaurants in Hong Kong and the flavors and presentation are the closest that I would find in Thailand. I love their Nam Prik dips which are all made in the restaurant and have a very authentic taste and served with crispy rice cakes and deep fried betel leaves. For appetizers their rice paper rolls are made fresh to order and are soft and flavorsome, especially the soft shelled crab with fresh mango. The Tom Yum Goong soup is spicy and rich with coconut milk and just the right blend of ingredients. Their best salads include the crispy catfish and green mango salad which has a great sweet and sour taste and interesting textures from the crispy but soft fried catfish, crunchy green mango, cashew nuts and soft fragrant mint and shallots... delicious!
For the main courses I recommend their pad Thai which is super authentic and served perfectly hot with just the right amount of sauce. The curries are rich and authentic, the Beef cheek with peanuts is great. From the main dish page try the Goong Wan, king prawns with palm sugar and garlic and don't miss the fried rice.
There is plenty of other choices and too many things to talk about here but everything we have had here has been perfectly cooked and just the right sized portions. Don't be put off by the expensive looking decor, this restaurant is not over priced and is very good value for money. I couldn't recommend it more highly and we will be back again soon. Weekends they have a great DJ playing in the bar late and the atmosphere changes from a dining environment to a cool lounge bar. Don't miss it!

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The Thai food served here has got a kind of fusion twist to it. Some notable dishes we tried were the salmon dumplings that are slightly spicy, raw prawns, shrimp cakes, soft-shell crab salad with green papaya and this leaf wrap thing. I'm not really sure what the leaf wrap was called, but basically it's got some peanuts, some crispy things, a bit of meat (I think it was pork) and some sweet sauce placed on top of a leaf and you eat it with the leaf. At first, it will just taste like eating a leaf but the taste slowly changes and then is quite tangy. It actually feels a bit psychedelic so if you want some kind of odd experience with food, I would recommend you to try it.

There are also dips for appetizers. The dips come with crispy sheets that slightly resemble pappadums without the spices, fried leaves and crispy rice cakes. You can choose from a variety of dips too. The peanut with chicken sauce and spicy tomato sauce are recommended.

We also ordered two curries - fish and chicken. Unfortunately, the menu is a bit misleading because it actually said "curry fish balls". I did feel like eating fish balls and thought that was what we'd be getting. It turned out to be just curry fish fillets! The chicken curry was a bit salty but paired with those roti-like pancake things, it's pretty good.

If you're a meat lover, then this might come off a bit weird because my favourite dish was actually the fried vegetables! The fried baby cabbage was very good and we ended up ordering two plates.

The only downside about this restaurant is that the portions are quite small. There's also a creepy toilet on the second floor that makes a weird noise if you try opening the door when somebody's inside. The problem is that you don't know when somebody's inside so you'll just have to deal with the noise

What I love about their menu is the vast choices of seafood dishes, especially prawns in raw, fried and steamed glory. I had Goong Wan (Fried King Prawns with Garlic & Palm Sugar $75) and was a little disappointed when it came because the prawns were definitely not in king size and the sauce tasted a little too sweet.

Pad Bo Tak (Fried Seafood with Thai Basil, Chilli, Lime and A Touch of Curry Paste $88) was another seafood dish I ordered. Not a recommendable dish, as I could taste the use of frozen ingredients...

However, I would love to give credit to its desserts. I absolutely loved the 2 desserts I ordered: Khao Niew Mamuang (Sweet Sticky Rice with Thick Coconut Milk & Fresh Mango $48) and Black Sticky Rice and Coconut Ice Cream ($38).

Just the desserts would tempt me to Ayuthaiya again.
