I wasn’t living in HK for the past year which means I’ve missed out on the crazy ramen fad that was going on. That is fine with me since the line-ups aren’t that long anymore at the popular places I was in TST the other day so I suggested dinner at Ippudo which is one of the more popular choices. To my surprise there wasn’t a long line up in front of the store. I was in TST the other day so I suggested dinner at Ippudo which is one of the more popular choices. To my surprise there wasn’t a long line up in front of the store. Also they have a really cool ticketing machine in front of the store which allows you to input your cell number when you collect your ticket so that they can call you when your table’s almost ready. Technology wins! It took us only around 10 minutes to get a table.

The menu was pretty extensive for a ramen place – almost like an izakaya. I stuck with ramen though and ordered the Ippudo Karaka (一風堂辣肉味噌), $78. It came really quickly, like 5 minutes after we placed our order. Talk about efficiency!

-I was a bit disappointed to find that the ramen doesn’t come with any sides by default, except for the big spoonful of green onion
-The chashu was alright, with the right amount of fat.
-This is a matter of personal preference but I thought the noodles were overcooked.
-The soup was spicy enough, but without that subtle sweetness that I was hoping for.

I also ordered a side of Soy Sauce Soft Boiled Egg, which costed another $12!!!!!

Luckily though the egg was really good and not as disappointing as the ramen
It was flavourful and the yolk was delicious, albeit a teensy bit too runny.

-The salmon was really thick which is nice considering that we’re eating Japanese food.
-I didn’t like the sauce – it tasted really tomato-y and even a bit cheesy? Tasted a bit off.
-The shimeiji was alright, although I don’t really see how it adds to the dish

Ippudo came to HK around July 2011, however funnily enough I first had Ippudo in New York city where the average wait time for a table is about 90 mins during lunch and perhaps more during dinner, so can't really complain about any wait time in HK, especially today they have about 6-7 stores and more recently opened in Langham Place.

Anyway, the flagship store in TST is where I normally resolve my craving for this Hakata style of ramen. I'm generally not a big fan of chain stores however Ippudo manages to deliver consistent quality of soup, noodles and service. Even though operated by the Maxim's group in HK, the name Ippudo is famous for winning the best ramen in Japan, three years in a row, to be crowned "Ramen King". Outside Japan I think New York delivers the best ramen, and they recently opened in Sydney, however an average bowl of ramen costs about the equivalent of $126HKD, ouch compared to approx $68 HKD in Hong Kong.

The decor is consistently pleasant in NYC and Sydney, and HK is no different. More importantly the food... I just love the Akamaru, a deep tonkotsu broth, finished with black garlic oil and a dollop of their special red chilli sauce. I prefer the hard noodles, as this gives you more texture in the mouth and they continue to slightly cook after it's served so I don't understand why you'd want them soft.

I make a point of writing reviews after more than one visit as it's only fair to the restaurant and reviewer as a fair reflection of the food and service delivered.

Today was no different, delicious hot soup and hard noodles. I'm not a big fan of the yelling welcome, however it's far worse in NYC where I jump out of my seat every time new customers arrive. It doesn't detract however that this place delivers a consistent high quality ramen in HK, almost every time.

原本想去返 Agura. 不過朋友懶得行就去左試 一風堂.可能之前係朋友fb 睇到 D 相好吸引所以有點期望過高.員工很友善. 特意話比我地知椅下面係有個basket可以放袋既.打開 menu . 拉面係二價錢係正常位. 但啤其他 a la carte 就貴了.不過都叫左個沙律試試...蟹肉海帶沙律 做得好靚,但超細份, 約手掌咁大.下面係一大份豆腐.蟹肉好味但只有3-4小塊,但其他都係無味...雞湯豬骨拉麵有蒜香味,湯低濃郁. 味道似黑蒜油豬骨湯味出前一丁,多了雞湯味.值得推介係佢地既筍. 有口感.因為份量不多,所以湯都飲埋...結果渴到就圍搵7-11 .

I have heard some negative comments regarding the food quality of Ippudo, yet with this price, I am contented with the taste and service.

Literally means exploding tofu, What a name! The appearance was not as impressive as suggested, it was just a smaller, but hotter and bubbling version of a korean tofu soup, or at least I thought . Flavor was spicy but Not overwhelming so as there was a really strong savory sweetness to it that felt msg-esque to me. A bit over the top for an appetizer.

I started to realise they loved these big, imposing names for their normal dishes; perhaps to make up for the less than inspired dishes themselves. There was a choice between sweet and spicy for this dish, I opted for sweet. The only difference between both is actually in the swipe of sauce they drizzle over the two pieces of chicken. The frying was done well and it came hot and piping out of the fryer, coated in a battered layer of what I believe to be flakes of oats that were wonderfully crunchy; the chicken itself was quite tender but fat (oil was dripping through the skin, but noone trying to be healthy orders fried chicken anyways
). Nothing too creative, but it was a simple dish well done - and can't really go wrong with deep fried fatty foods right? I thoroughly enjoyed this.

My friend ordered her medium textured. These were the slim cut ones, which we enjoyed, and the fatty pork helped enhance the flavor. It came topped with black fungus, bean sprouts and scallions for flavor. But the soul is the pork bone soup. Rich , deep and intense. Hit the spot very well.

The latest 'original' Ippudo signature ramen . Came with the usual condiments - slices of fatty pork, black fungus, bean sprouts and scallions. I added a salted egg and a side of vegetable. The egg was beautifully done and one of my favorite things in the ramen experience is tasting the rich, oozy miracle that is the yolk of the egg. Wonderful. Ramen was the thin and medium textured as per my choice, I enjoyred this. Pork was consistently good as per Ippudo standard. Pork bone Soup was less intense than my friend's bowl - in fact, I found it a bit too mild -given the strong flavors of the appetizers, the intensity of the soup really paled in comparison. I think the restaurant would have benefitted to amp up the richness of its staple items when trying to tweak their other menu items.
Overall, still enjoyable.

宅女一向偏愛拉麵, 近年本港的拉麵店越開越多,可惜真正好吃的不出數間.其中一風堂屬連鎖集團式經營,水準時好時壞, 間間分店質素亦有異不過好處是他們不時都會推出不同款式的新口味拉麵早陣子推出了和歌山拉麵 (HK$88)湯底是由豬骨加雞熬成, 再有叉燒腩跟全熟蛋喝一口湯, 味道都幾濃郁厚身, 油份亦不會好多, 而麵條亦都幾掛麵當然跟在日本吃過的和歌山口味差得遠了但如果當普通拉麵來吃的話, 填肚是不錯的.

喜欢找美食 但与直都觉得美食一进连锁  素质就一定会下滑。平时吃日本料理不怎么吃拉面 但一风堂是个吃拉面的地儿,因此要了白xx(普通硬度面 +蛋+白煮蔬菜)68份量刚好 ,汤底非常浓郁,一股猪骚,话是这么说 不过味道真是不错。一开始觉得 普通面有点硬 吃到后来它就软了 反而对我来说刚刚好,个人觉得料少了点 豚肉就两块,值得一提的是糖心蛋真是太赞了!四分熟的口感 一流拉,下次要加两个。朋友要了滑蛋鳗鱼石锅,份量蛮小的,个人觉得一般。另外还要了一风堂饺子,皮非常薄 很韧,虽然放在铁板上 但不热。要了武士排骨,吃了才知道原来是糖醋味的 卖相很漂亮 味道也不错,口感有点糟 除了近骨头的一圈肉 别的简直咬不动。太硬了。里面的薯仔道很好吃。下次会再来,翻翻评价 反而另一种赤xx更受捧。再吃过

對於這麼多人讚的店舖,就是走過看看有什麼驚喜有什麼吸引到人們的讚賞,但原來都只是不外如是 ……我們就是因為怕等位所以提早六點三十分就到達,時間早了去到店舖所以不用等位喇,開餐了 。我們二人選了和歌山拉麵、白丸元味拉麵和一風堂餃子都是本店的推介菜式和賣點。先講和歌山拉麵是這裡的較為新的推介食物呢,看到碗面裡有很多的餸菜的配料只靠賣相都比起其他麵的賣相較為吸引但因我男朋友叫了這個所以我只好選了一個白丸元味拉麵我看見的推介是有豬骨味道的湯底我但不感覺有這種味道我很像吃到有陣花生麻醬的味道,另外是一風堂出名的餃子,其實都未有什麼特別只是用了鐵板上的餃子較比其他店舖熱辣辣的餃子送到呢。

一直聽聞一風堂的拉麵多麼出色,這個週末終於跟朋友一起來見識一番。跟著地圖的指示來到這間商場的二樓,中午過後的時段人並不多,我們沒有等位便進去,周圍還有很多空位置。朋友點了赤丸,我點了期間限定的喜多方拉麵,另外要了一風堂叉燒角包做小食。服務員的態度很好,端上面來的同時詢問要不要加一些胡椒粉。面的口感沒有太多出色的地方,但都算是OK,溏心蛋也恰到好處。赤丸新味的湯明顯要濃一些,豬骨味道也厚重,喜多方拉麵的湯則清很多但味道並不淡。值得稱讚的是作為輔食的叉燒角包,叉燒肉肥瘦兼具但並不油膩,外面的麵餅也甜甜的,配合一片菜葉有入口即化的口感,非常值得一試。不得不說的是店面的環境,牆面佈置有日本漫畫的風格,還有許多日本拉麵的碗,算是空間寬敞值得食完面后坐下來喝茶敘舊的好地方。

食過一風堂既拉麵幾次,覺得赤丸係最好味既。一個拉麵太少係唔夠食,我會加多個麵咁就飽飽啦。赤丸湯底非常濃味,同埋都好油架,但好好味,叉燒又少又普通,但係湯底+拉麵美味蓋過一切,所以我話呢加多個麵掉落個湯食好過叫多碗赤丸呀。叉燒餅,豪無特別。餃子雞亦,都OK。

一口尺寸豬腩肉叉燒 6件,連同筍條、半熟玉子、蔥絲一大碗,腩肉肥瘦分明一層層狀似薄切後的燒腩仔,口感肥而不膩,可惜麵條腍軟不堪,在筷子的觸動下差點要分家了,對它的感想只能報以一個苦笑!

豬骨湯底,脢頭叉燒、蔥粒、木耳,另加半熟玉子一只 $12
碗內富有博多風味傳統特幼直身淡黃色麵條、可以自行挑選麵條的軟硬度 (硬、普通、軟) ,妹妹要了普通硬度,經過一陣子拍攝程序後,顯得軟塌塌貼成一團,味道亦不見突出。

失望之餘,回頭看看自己那碗(一風堂 Kasane 雞湯豬骨 $78)
仍然是選了普通硬度的麵條,中等粗度捲曲的麵條,並沒有被滾燙的湯汁所侵蝕,滿載雞肉豬肉的香甜依舊爽口彈牙,豬肩肉叉燒,竹筍,卷心菜,半熟玉子,蔥粒,日式魚片。
那麼多配菜還未滿足? 大食王貪心地加了一只 醬油半熟蛋 $12 和 紫菜 $8
乳白色豚骨湯頭濃稠甘甜中帶點幽香,半熟蛋(蛋如其名)果真只有四成熟,眼前金黃色的蛋漿差點一發不可以收拾 ⋯⋯

題外話/補充資料: 雖然錯過了期待已久之(我的拉麵)但可以食到(一風堂 Kasane 雞湯豬骨)倒是我的意外收穫,結果像小孩子般開心雀躍了大半天,原來快樂就是那麼簡單!
