Let's start with the first time I went there, my friends were having dinner there but I decided to join them last minute. I sat down and the waiter did not offer me a drink or cutlery or anything. His attitude was fairly dismissive when I ordered my drink. It was a busy night and I could see he was flat out, so I thought it was just a one-time thing.Today I went in because I wanted to get some bread to make lunch for me and my husband, I went in and decided to get some duck foie gras pate as wel
Today I went in because I wanted to get some bread to make lunch for me and my husband, I went in and decided to get some duck foie gras pate as well. I asked for 50g because I only wanted to spread it as part of my sandwich. After a 5 minute wait, another girl showed me the packed pate and said it was a little over and asked if it was ok, I thought fine because I guess she cut the piece too large and it came to like 86g.
Then I went home to unwrap it, I found one large piece, with not one, but TWO extra smaller thinner pieces, so she clearly intentionally bulked it up. And as I looked more closely, the exposed end had a bit of mould on it!!
What really made me upset was when I went back to say I'm sorry but I can't accept this beause blah blah blah. She just whisked it away as soon as I said mould and didn't even pretend to hear me out when I started to complain about the bulking. She gave me a new piece (50g) and let me inspect it first, and the extra charged back and said 'ng ho yi si' (slight apology) right at the end.
The issues I have are:
1) Business ethics: Intentionally bulking up the amount to make me pay for it. I have no issue with the amount but why are you pushing me to buy more when I don't need it and didn't ask for it in the first place? I'm sorry I was only about to buy 50 bucks' worth of stuff and not $1k.
2) Mould on pate: This was a minor one, because I understand it would've been sitting in the fridge for a while, but er.... wouldn't you do the smart thing and actually check it before serving? And you are not the cheapest place in town.
3) Attitude: When I went back, I wasn't expecting you to be begging on your knees for forgiveness but a sincere apology straight away would've been appreciated. (Note: This is such a woman thing but I would also like to feel heard when I'm complaining!!!)
Now the million-dollar question...would I go back? At this point, yes when necessary, but hope to see some improvement on quality of service so I will visit more regularly cos they do have some good stuff in there.
