Before I start - I lived in Korea for 9 years and have a good understanding of more popular Korean food.We arrived for lunch and wife wanted something spicy.Ordered mandu and kimchee with pork soup - $300 - so was expecting something both big and good as you would get in a Korean restaurant in Korea. It arrived on the table and, to be honest, was an insult to Korean food. The pot in which it arrived would be good for one hungry person and there were only two mandu visible. We called the waitress over who took the lid off and stirred it - she managed to find two more. She left again.Started to probe around in the soup - it was a matter of about 2cms deep, maybe 3. There was no meat AT ALL in the soup. There was however a small lump of bone and a lump of connective tissue - see below. The food was not as it was described in the menu so was cancelled before we started and we ordered something else instead - things we knew should be OK.The calbi tang and bibimbap quickly arrived instead and we ate but were disappointed overall. We were only there as my wife wanted something spicy - that wasn't delivered. The staff were very apologetic though and very attentive once they knew that we knew what Korean food was about. We have eaten there before and everything was fine. Just be careful with the prok, kimchee and mandu soup.

i came here last tuesday night for dinner. this location is prime. sitting inside the time square shopping mall.this place has a very nice ambiance. good for both business dinners and family outings. we got a seat w/o reservations. the price is similar to the korean bbq in nyc. about $300HKD per bbq dish. we ordered beef short ribs. it was marinated to perfection. the meat was tender and juicy. also ordered the spicy cod roes with tofu and turnip slices stew and japchae (stir fried noodles). i thought the appetizers were great, however, they didn't refill them!! the korean restaurants in both nyc and new jersey refill their appetizers. -_-japchae was very delicious. the spicy cod roes were ok. i was craving for them for the longest time. i had better ones in new jersey. i cannot wait to go back to jersey to have them again. also one thing was they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted for our stew pot. it came out very mild, which was fine with me b/c i don't eat spicy food anymore. if u want it spicy, make sure you specify in case the waiter forgets to ask you.overall, service was excellent and food was very good as well. definitely will go back there again!

Korean barbeque is a fun way of eating, although, it can be a little annoying if you are hungry as you have to wait for your food to be cooked. Another thing that annoys me with Korean barbeque is the smell – you come out of the restaurant smelling like food. We were both quite famish that day, so decided to ask the chef to cook our food, instead of us barbequeing it ourselves.I love the bachans, it’s always a great way to start the meal. My favourites were the kimchi and the tofu. Both were spicy and absolutely flavoursome.I opted for the spicy pork (I can never go pass pork!), and indeed it was spicy! The pork was a little thin for my liking but it was tender, succulent and full of flavour.A ordered the beef. Again I thought the meat was a little thin, but it was delicious, although I think the spicy pork was better. The only gripe we had was that the servings were extremely small! Both set meals came with rice and a bowl of soup. I have to admit though, I have had better Korean in Sydney.read rest of blog: http://gastronomous.wordpress.com/2010/08/05/arirang-korean-restaurant/
