The buzz about this place seems to have been, "where ABC's go when they're homesick for Chinatown food". I say "ABC" in particular because Richmond, B.C. has as good food as HK (go ahead, flame me). So apparently I must be an ABC because I enjoyed my meal at Dining Wok.Although my wife got a bit worried because I started salivating over all the fried dishes, our orders of fried cow tongue and spicy soft-shelled crab ended up not being as heavy as she expected. The portion sizes were also good.The cow tongue was tender and not over-cooked. It would have been more to my liking if it was not bathed in a heavily hoisin-ized sauce similar American Chinese food, but then again (confession) I am not actually an ABC. I can see why not so many HK people would go for that taste. But I liked it.We both enjoyed the soft-shelled crab. The big Sichuan style chilies and scallions plus heaps of garlic made it an enjoyable eat. Again, not a delicate flavor, but with a bowl full of chilies, what would you expect? This is a dish I would go back for.Our choices were kind of pricey for a typical lunch, but we felt like experimenting. The set lunch is much cheaper.I'm not sure we'll go out of our way to come back on a regular basis, but if we're in the neighborhood it will be worth trying some different dishes. After all, my wife did enjoy the meal. And she really is an ABC.

在湾仔要找一处可以坐得舒舒服服的地方去出午饭, 不容易, 不是太贵, 就是太嘈, 要不然, 食物资素不会太好. Dining Wok可算是我最近的约人吃饭新据点. 她店子小小, set lunch选择不多 (每天三个不同的主菜), 有些人可能觉得份量会太小, 但对两个女生来讲就差不多. 她另外一个"好处"是可以订位, 价钱合理(以这样的decoration和食物资素而言), 两个人两碗饭, 两个主菜, 两杯(每次不同的) 饮品, 一碟菜 (还要是不太油的!), 大概HK$180. 去了三次, 试过6个不同的主菜, 应该还会有下一次. 只希望不会太快关门... 店子坐满也只有不足10台...BTW, 这店后面有个水井... 湾仔也有湾仔的? 有趣!

A friend of mine took me to dining wok last night. Quite an interesting setting, small place but cosy, I didn't enjoy the lighting at all though... makes one too sleepy. The well is quite an interesting attraction, the first 'real' well I have seen for all these years in hk.As an American, I have to say their food is very 'American Chinese' I particularly liked the chicken wings, prawn toast and general tso chicken! Man! It does remind me of the days back in the states.I didn't expect the portions to be quite as small, afterall a dinner for two people at $600 with drinks is not exactly cheap. There are many more restaurants nearby with competitive prices. But I have been told they do good value set lunch, so I will go back next week to revist. I really enjoyed the experience.

对很多人来讲, 美式中餐系想也不会想的选择, 除非你系ABC或者系老美. 但对小弟来讲, 这种食物还是有一定的感情, 毕竟有发生过. 是日就来了这家以美式中餐作卖点的餐厅试试.这里又系一家活化的店, 建筑物本身都几陈旧, 室内就几整洁, 布置也几中国化.午市套餐$68一位, 包一杯冻柠蜜.冻柠蜜: 6分, 直程系从前系钱柜饮的冻柠蜜那种味道, 系蜜糖味不太够, 怪怪的感觉, 也是一种回忆.酸辣汤: 6分, 辣度系小弟还接受到的, 但系好像没有太突出的酸味, 只系杰杰的,这个酸辣汤, 又真系几美式., 又或者就系这样先值得专程来回味一下.三杯鸡: 7分, 三个主菜中拣了这个鸡, 等了好一会, 见厨师系隔离即炒的, 但计这点, 又跟美式不一样, 在美国的话, 应该系一早整定一大碟了. 午市来讲, 诚意可嘉. 即炒的, 够镬气, 难怪店名就系单字一个: 镬. 个汁就真系几美式的, 几杰身, 带点辣. 鸡肉出奇地系几嫩滑的.杨枝甘露: 5分, 另加$10就有客甜品, 也试试. 吃完辣野, 吃杨枝甘露本来系几好的, 但这个的规格跟平日吃开的不太一样, 没有甚么芒果, 反而有不少珍珠, 几奇怪, 不懂欣赏. 这$10可以不加.吃完还有个景点要看, 就系店内的老井, 系这个陈年建筑物的一部份, 店方特意保留这口井作为景点. 系香港市区应该也没有其他地方有口井吧.当然, 同食物质素系无任何关系的.这里的食物, 水准也不太差, 起码不是美式中餐的水准. 来回味一下, 也不错.

在圣佛兰士街这一条可爱斜路, 有著中西式的食肆, 而且也是特别小品装潢, 令原本已经好特别的一条小街, 再添一分色彩.上次Tapas Bar 令我失望而回后, 今次看见隔离只镬, $68一个lunch, 价钱affortable 就犯吧.Set lunch, 三个choice. 有一个什么鸡肉羹, 再叫一个甜豆百合炒鸡. 倘若大家身处外国小镇 (是没有唐人街的小镇). 美味的 Chinese Chop Shui, 可以高呼好味呀.....但我们身处香港.此店个concept, 是美式唐餐, 把煮给老外食既中国餐, 带回香港. 毕竟, 这是香港, 尽管味道是多好, 多合外国人口味. 我们在外国生活惯的, 懂得冲出亚洲的老外门, 还可以接受. 但香港美食多, 这种外国式唐餐. 连现今唐人街都不采用的煮食方法. 特色, 不觉, 美味, 不觉, 抵食, no way.
