Wondering what to eat, I noticed these amazing photos of char siu and egg with rice at this place called Congteakafe. After spending a couple of weeks home in Canada, I had a serious craving for char siu. Off I went to find this place! However, when I sat down, they informed me that they had run out of char siu! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!I had to order something else. They had a variety of menus but I decided to get something off their tea set menu. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service

They had a variety of menus but I decided to get something off their tea set menu. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. Sets come with a standard drink with upgrades for cold or something else.
The ice milk tea looked pale when it arrived but it tasted pretty good. A strong tea flavor with a nice balance of milk to not over dilute it.
As they didn't have char siu, I chose this: a fried fish filet with scrambled eggs and toast ($34). It also came with a side of cold baked beans from a can. However, the fish filet was fried perfectly. The coating wasn't heavy and thick. The fish was perfectly cooked. Moist and flaky. It was more pan fried than actually deep frying so it felt a lot more healthy. The eggs were not over done and not too wet. Over all, not too bad. For this price, I find it pretty acceptable.
I'll be back as I do want to try their char siu with egg on rice. I saw a few people walk in and leave when they found out they ran out of char siu so this must be what they are popular for.
