I've been to Gaylord a handful of times. The first time I had their buffet and thought it was relatively good. The second time I went for dinner and it was only so-so. This time we aimed for the buffet, but apparently it's only on Sunday (we went Saturday). Here's what we had:The pappadums were pretty straightforward. On the first page of the menu were Maharashtrian specials. I'm big into specials, and we wanted a chicken dish, so we got the Chicken Rassa. From looking around, I think 'rassa' just means 'curry.' Also, it seems that Maharashtrian curries are more watery than some other types of Indian curries, and that was certainly the case here. I didn't think the flavors were off, but there was nothing exceptional about this dish, and it arrived lukewarm, which more or less kills a curry for me. C-

The Lamb Roganjosh was better. A thicker sauce with a little bit more flavor, and served at a temperature appropriate for cooked food. Again, it wasn't anything amazing or special, but I think anyone would have trouble actively disliking it. B-

The garlic naan was pretty good. Nice and glistening with grease, more on the 'doughy' side, plenty of garlic. I liked it. B+

There's nothing fantastic about Gaylord, but I've never had anything there that wasn't at least average, and in general things are slightly-but-not-greatly above average. It's a "safe" place to go if you want to make sure the food won't be terrible and the service is alright, but I prefer Tandoori Nights, or the dice-game that is Chungking Mansions.

Attracted into this restaurant by the Michelin 1 star recommendation billboard at the ground floor. Ordered the 2 person set B dinner which was mandatory to order the same set. First appetizer dish came with the chicken with some sort fried ball on a sizzling pan. Chicken 1/5: The powder on the chicken wasn't even cooked as if the chef sparkled onto without spending the effort of dissolving the spices, would probably gag on the powder if you inhaled while putting the chicken pieces in your mouth

Chicken 1/5: The powder on the chicken wasn't even cooked as if the chef sparkled onto without spending the effort of dissolving the spices, would probably gag on the powder if you inhaled while putting the chicken pieces in your mouth.
Fried ball stuffing 2/5: No taste and seasoning as one would expect Indian food to be favorable. The garnish of onion and pepper had a piece of hair in it which made me lose complete appetite for the dish.
Garlic bread dough 4/5: only dish that was actually good but a bit too greasy.
Blended Spanish with cheese 2/5: No flavor and the cheese had little to no taste.
Beef dish 1/5: Sauce tasted awful and the beef was hard and rough.
Fried rice 2/5: Plain rice with nothing in it as I suppose you mix it with the other dishes with horrible sauces.
Bread dessert 2/5: Nothing special just baked bread with drenched in sugar syrup.

Overall, horrible service provided by the lady with attitude problems and was not very enthusiastic to assist you. Hygienic problems all over the restaurant as the Bartender was picking his nose while cleaning the wine glasses and hair found in food. One of the worst dining experience and Indian food ever ate. Honest conclusion even fast food chain "curry in a hurry" tastes 5 times better than this place. Avoid at all cost!!

Chowpatty Chaat (5/10)
Chaat is a term describing savoury snacks. Chaat are based on fried dough, with various other ingredients.
The Chaat with Gaylord was a mixture of potato pieces, crispy fried bread Dahi Vada, chickpeas and tangy-salty spices, topped with natural yogurt. The flavour and the texture is always a great balance, one of my all time favourite starter.

Tandoori Chicken (6/10)
Tandoori chicken is probably one of the most recognised of all Indian dishes. The heat inside a proper tandoor is so intense that a whole marinated chicken can be baked in minutes to a succulent and moist finish, even thought very little oil or fat is used. The secret is to marinate the chicken at least 4 hours or ideally over night.
The chicken was grilled to perfection, dry on the outside, moist in the inside. It was greatly marinated.

Aloo Jeera (3/10)
The flavour was great; however, the chef took the easy way. The potato was boiled and mixed with the spices. The dish would be much better off by frying the spices and then add in the potatoes, seasoning and water to slow cook it 20-30 mintues.

Lamb Vindaloo (5/10)
Vindaloo owes its origins to the Portuguese in colonial India. It was traditionally a potato, pork and vinegar curry from Goa. I guess that’s why is call Vin (wine or vinegar) and Aloo (potato). In Indian homes today, the term Vindaloo is indicative of the strength or heat of the curry.

The base of the curry was from tomatoes and mixed with chilli powder and turmeric. The heat of the dish was great, slightly sour, and the lamb was very tender. It would be even better if curry leaves and coriander were used.

It you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine with elegant ambiance, Gaylord would be my top choice for you. However, their wine list is rather common, highly recommend for bringing your own selection.

想食左好耐, 但無機會. 昨晚印左另一間印度自助餐優惠卷. 但睇左食評. 都係去爵樂好d.餐廳裝潢幾好. 清潔及光猛. 桌布及餐巾感覺乾淨. 但不知是否近日天氣悶熱. 冷氣好似不足. 又可能食咖哩. 但食客不多, 最多同時都係得八至十枱野食方面. 款式ok, 大致有十多樣. 包括 咖哩羊(最好食), 咖哩雞, 咖哩角, 炒飯, 炒什菜, 素咖哩, 烤雞(白色), 烤肉卷, 印式甜品(粉團在糖水中), 生果, 沙律. 還有自助餐包一杯飲料. 薄餅侍應自動給你.食物中我最中意係咖哩羊, 肉好林, 汁夠濃但又唔太辣. 有隻唔知係咩, 橙色汁 舊野似實左少少的水牛芝士, 幾好食.最奇係無橙色的tandoori chicken. 得白色燒雞(失望). 綠色果d汁, 比較辣左少少.

I went to this restaurant after I read about in here on openrise. The restaurant is nice clean and offer both Indian veg and non veg food. This one is slightly pricy and not the one which you would go everyday. Being a veggie I kind of managed a less than avg bill. I ordered simple 'chana bhatura' ( chickpeas curry served with deep fried bread) and it was well worth the money.The service, ambiance and food met my expectations. Recommended to us by a friend who is a regular, we'd been meaning to try Gaylord for a while. The lunch buffet is a good choice with a wide range of different dishes from standard curry to rich creamy massala dishes. Everything seemed fresh to us and the hygiene standard was high. If you're looking for good value for money the buffet is much better than the a la carte, but don't plan anything afterwards other than perhaps a long walk.

RECOMMENDED: This restaurant on the 3rd floor in a popular little side street full of restaurants. The Gaylord offers a standard fare of Indian dishes, all the types of Tandoori and curries you expect to see as well as a selection of special Bangladeshi dishes (though I didn't try these). The dishes were all nicely presented and nicely flavored as well. The freshly baked breads were quite good. RECOMMENDED: This restaurant on the 3rd floor in a popular little side street full of restaurants. The Gaylord offers a standard fare of Indian dishes, all the types of Tandoori and curries you expect to see as well as a selection of special Bangladeshi dishes (though I didn't try these). The dishes were all nicely presented and nicely flavored as well. The freshly baked breads were quite good. The Gaylord offers a range of vegetarian dishes as well.

The decor is above average for an Indian location and prices are modest, tablecloths and live music (on this Saturday night) made for an enjoyable evening. A small bar is out front in the event you have to wait for a table. Service during our visit was more than acceptable. The total bill was reasonable and in line for a typical Indian restaurant.

It is difficult in my single visit to say there is anything particularly BAD or GOOD about the Gaylord. In short, it was a typical Indian restaurant with decent though unspectacular food. If I were in the neighborhood, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again but likely wouldn't go out of my way to visit, thus I don't hesitate to recommend it..

Having been recommended by some Indian friends a while ago, I finally had the chance to try this restaurant today.Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a table by the side of the buffet table - a bit of a distraction yet tolerable as the lunch time crowd was not too rowdy. We would have liked to be seated a bit further from the buffet queue but it really wasn't too bad. The large windows gave a very spacious and airy feel to the restaurant even though the tables were very close

Having been recommended by some Indian friends a while ago, I finally had the chance to try this restaurant today.

Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a table by the side of the buffet table - a bit of a distraction yet tolerable as the lunch time crowd was not too rowdy. We would have liked to be seated a bit further from the buffet queue but it really wasn't too bad. The large windows gave a very spacious and airy feel to the restaurant even though the tables were very close together and the restaurant was almost full at lunch time.

As my friend and I wanted to enjoy the dishes of our own selection as well as the conversation, we decided not to go for the buffet even though the buffet was much more reasonably priced at around $100 per head.

We started off with the vegetable pakora which was not spicy and not too oily. The chowpatty chaat was full of flavour with a variety of herbs - a very appetizing dish to whet our palettes. The Tandoori chicken was nicely marinated, juicy and grilled to perfection - no faults there. The lamb madras was a little bland as far as the level of spicy-ness went but the very tender meat and the sauce more than made up for it. I would have preferred a bit more bite to the dish but than I guess this level would go well with the locals.

I guess the next time I return, I will either go for the lunch buffet or come with a bigger crowd for dinner to try out more of the items on the very inviting menu.

環境好清靜....本來, 但之後加咗live band後就好嘈了, 冷氣超凍....凍到我死.....tol算好clean, 服務不錯!! 只覺價錢貴少少。食物還可以, 可以講係個個人的口味唔同, 唔係好係我的口味吧。我個人比較喜歡食溫和少少的另咖哩的。

印度菜是比較少吃的一類,因味道過濃通常都已蓋過食物本身的味道,但久未吃過吃一次都無仿。我很喜歡這個免費的餐前小食,這裡的薄脆帶點辣,而附上的醬就很鹹。菠菜蓉芝士是出奇地好味的,搗成蓉的菠菜蓉裡混有無數水牛芝士,水牛芝士有奶香又柔韌,夾雜少許香料的味道,不會太印度,是令人容易接受的印度菜,愛吃芝士的人大可一試!香草羊肉燴蛋,沒料到是這種汁煮的菜色,我以為會是乾身的,這個汁有蕃茄在內,少許蕃茄的酸但卻挺辣的,加上香草味,濃郁的味道經已把羊肉自身的味覺完全蓋過了,然而羊肉是炆得軟腍的不鞋的,只是要是換上牛肉的話也難以察覺的。其實吃過菠菜芝士蓉已飽了大半,飯就只能淺嚐幾口,印度的炒飯沒中式的那麼油,也不像西式般下忌廉下芝士等的肥膩(但我卻很愛吃),感覺更健康,此飯有咖哩和濃重的香料味,不錯!這裡的客人清一色是西人,只有我們一枱是香港人,侍者都是印度人,更有印度人即席獻唱,感覺很正宗,而這裡的環境也很舒適,如想吃正宗的印度菜又想有舒適高雅的環境,這裡絕對是可以考慮的選擇。

菠菜蓉芝士是出奇地好味的,搗成蓉的菠菜蓉裡混有無數水牛芝士,水牛芝士有奶香又柔韌,夾雜少許香料的味道,不會太印度,是令人容易接受的印度菜,愛吃芝士的人大可一試!

香草羊肉燴蛋,沒料到是這種汁煮的菜色,我以為會是乾身的,這個汁有蕃茄在內,少許蕃茄的酸但卻挺辣的,加上香草味,濃郁的味道經已把羊肉自身的味覺完全蓋過了,然而羊肉是炆得軟腍的不鞋的,只是要是換上牛肉的話也難以察覺的。

其實吃過菠菜芝士蓉已飽了大半,飯就只能淺嚐幾口,印度的炒飯沒中式的那麼油,也不像西式般下忌廉下芝士等的肥膩(但我卻很愛吃),感覺更健康,此飯有咖哩和濃重的香料味,不錯!

這裡的客人清一色是西人,只有我們一枱是香港人,侍者都是印度人,更有印度人即席獻唱,感覺很正宗,而這裡的環境也很舒適,如想吃正宗的印度菜又想有舒適高雅的環境,這裡絕對是可以考慮的選擇。

我本來諗住食一餐特別的生日飯,於是就去試下呢間高級的印度餐廳,點知..........食到火都黎!服務態度其差,水都沒有一杯,要我地問先有,之後我地有個朋友要遲黎,我地心想叫小食等,於是叫了2片薄餅+一個雞寶,真係出事!服務我地嗰個印度人,竟然問我地點解叫咁小野,要我地解釋!有無攬錯!我地係客人!雞寶鹽到不得了,真係食唔落去!到左我地與服務生互相望下望下之後,我地都再叫多左幾款菜式,都係味道怪怪的!我一定不會再去,到左我地埋單既時候,那些服務生連多謝也沒有,我覺得佢地係唔鐘意香港人去食的!真係貴得緊要,份量小到得人驚,咖哩雞得4-5粒,價值$95蚊,以佢既服務態度真係唉..........去呢間餐廳食野,真係一個錯!

The only indian restaurant that I visited during my stay in HK two years ago during summer 2009.I went for the lunch buffet and I was so in love I had to take more friends to go again.Usually in Hong Kong I eat until I look like I'm pregnant with a food baby.This place was so good that I ended up eating myself into a food coma.and it was so worth every penny! When I went it was only $99HK for lunch buffetI can still remember just how amazing the tandoori chicken was, so juicy and scrumptious!and

This place was so good that I ended up eating myself into a food coma.
and it was so worth every penny! When I went it was only $99HK for lunch buffet

I can still remember just how amazing the tandoori chicken was, so juicy and scrumptious!
and the service was really good.

There wasn't a lot of people there when I went so it was more relaxing and no waiting.

The only negative thing I could think of is that I had a bit of trouble finding the restaurant haha.

I can't wait until I come back again in the summer so I can go eat myself into a food coma again!!!! xD

之前一早BOOK定位~今日係食南部咖哩自助餐~服務好好~又比我地揀位~知道我地唔係印度人~又介紹D野食係乜野我地飲完杯印度特飲又比杯水比我地~D雞肉好滑~薯圈都好食~雞肉有分BBQ同埋咖哩~羊肉比較"蘇"杯印度特飲有D似楊枝甘露唯一唔係咁鍾意既係D飯同埋甜品
