Spending one of the most authentic Dai Pai Dong experience tonight and definitely would like to give a word about this participation. Surrounding with the 80s street food design, thoughtfully covering some of aged advertising boxes in their design. What even more was using ancient old lift design as their bathroom design. What a big surprise. Was expecting menu serving loads of dishes, but in one page. We ordered the deep fried bombay duck, deep fried tofu, shrimp paste deep fried pork, Belacan

Was expecting menu serving loads of dishes, but in one page. We ordered the deep fried bombay duck, deep fried tofu, shrimp paste deep fried pork, Belacan sauce lettuce in clay pot, stir fry beef with bitter melon in fermented black bean.
All the deep fried goodnesses were in golden colour and freshly made. You could imagine the crispy sound once you bite just by their look. The batter of the tofu, pork and bombay duck were all extraordinary thin while held with the internal nicely. Never fell apart and kept its shape when holding with chopsticks . Tofu was smooth and light. Bombay duck was moist and cooked just right despite slight bony.
Staff friendly reminded the pork dish might have a unique flavour that not everybody likes. Pork was in fact delicious. We all liked it a lot. Deep frying shrimp paste was unexpectedly gave a big kick to its flavour. Pork chop was moist and tenser. All the deep fried dishes were seasoned so well. I didnt even think sauce was needed to extra flavour.
Belacan sauce lettuce came burning hot with sizzling. Appreciated giving generous amount of chilli mince. Staff nicely helped stirring the vegetables. Lettuce was crunchy and kept its moist. Well coated with Belacan. As expected oily but not oil sinking at the bottom. Only criticism was lettuce was served in big chunks which after few serving, it's done and each serving was big. Messy to eat with small bowl.
Stir fry beef with bitter melon in fermented black bean sauce was the best dish tonight. Hint of bitterness paired so well with the savoury fermented black bean sauce. Bitter melon was soft but not mushed. Beef were in relatively big pieces. Tender and well absorbed all the sauce. Love that giving whole fermented black bean instead of just the sauce.
All in all, a wonderful place to have a taste of the old days.
