Had a reunion with old colleagues (a month old lol) at Bornga to try their legendary raw marinated crabs and fresh bbq eel. AND IT WAS LEGENDARY INDEED. Lost my raw crab virginity that night and now I can't go back. The crab meat was so much sweeter than I expected, and I thought the roe would be too fishy for me, but it was soooooo nice. The ahjumma helped us mix the roe from the crab shells into the seaweed rice and fitted it back into the shells for an aesthetic photo. She was so used to ppl
The whole eel was just sublime. Same ahjumma helped us grill it, with a big pair of scissors as her assistant. From cutting up the eel to pressing down the edges to grill it evenly, those scissors served every possible purpose throughout the grilling process. That's why the edges of the eel were so golden and crispy but still retained its juicy bits. Imagine a slightly chewy texture, which just shows how fresh the eel was. Not exaggerating but it's for SURE one of the best eels I've had. Remember to wrap it with the condiments that the ahjumma teaches you, the pickled veg brings out the best of the eel. We also got seafood pancakes which were meeehhhhh so stick to the good stuff!
