A friend of mine had come here a couple of times. He gushed about how great the food was. So, when one of our friends decided to choose this place as our Christmas eve dinner, I jumped at the chance to join.

It's a private kitchen that serves Thai food. Their entrance is located on Sneaker Street (Fa Yuen Street) near Argyle Street. You go into a building and press the second floor. There is no sign indicating it's a place that serves food. But you ring the doorbell ... and enter into someone's flat. There you are greeted by the owners (a husband and wife) who tell you to make yourself at home while a male Thai chef who cooks away. As we had 19 of us, we took over the entire flat.

The menu was chosen ahead of time. An email of the menu was sent to my friend who made the booking. Sadly, the entire menu is in Chinese. There is no English available. Price for 10 courses was $300 per person. Drinks were all you can drink and available in the fridge that we could open and help ourselves. There was no corkage fee so we brought our own wine. We were told that the  dinner started at 7 PM. Those that got there early were given shrimp chips to munch on while waiting and our choice of drinks. I forgot to take a photo but they were very crunchy.

I should note that  since there were 19 of us, they made each plate of food three times. As the portion of food was so immense, we couldn't finish. Food also came one at a time and was cleared when they realized we had stopped digging in.

Appetizer platter was a mix of spring rolls, fried pork balls and thousand year old egg topped on pork meat. The spring rolls were crunchy and packed with filling. The fried pork balls were bouncy and not oily. I didn't have the thousand year old egg as I don't like it but a friend said it also tasted good.

Raw shrimp came with a dipping sauce that was not spicy at first but then you felt it later as it went down your throat. Went down well. And I didn't get sick afterwards so a sign of good hygeine.

Fried fish. The meat was moist and wasn't fishy tasting at all. Which is a rarity as usually this fish is very fishy no matter how you make it. I have no idea how they made this possible.

Fried chicken. Usually when this is ordered in Thai restaurants, it's either oily or dry. This was not oily and the meat was super moist. I was surprised!

Curry in a bread bowl. The curry was fragrant in herbs. The bread was crispy and tasted great. We couldn't get enough of pulling at the bread and dipping into the curry sauce.

Tom yung kung. Usually it's so spicy, I can't drink it. However, this was not overly spicy. It was, however, a bit more on the sour side. But to me, who can't eat too spicy, this was perfect.

Curry crab. Same curry as the curry bread bowl so it was fantastic. Really fragrant in herbs. The crab meat was fresh and not over cooked.

We were given garlic bread that we used to eagerly dip in the curry sauce. There was the right amount of garlic to not be overpowering. They were not stingy on the bread as well.

Pineapple fried rice was surprisingly not oily as fried rice usually is. Lots of pineapple chunks that didn't look like it came from a can. Lots of shrimp and squid as well was to be found.

Dessert was mango sticky rice. I'm not a big fan of sticky rice but this was pretty good. The mango was sweet. The sticky rice was not overly sweet.

The owners were very friendly. Treating us more like their friends than customers here for dinner. Food was excellent. I've never had such good Thai food before. A great experience and will recommend to anyone to give it a try.
