Great burgers!
Triple O's by White Spot
2010-07-17
Went here for lunch with my cousin. We were very lucky coz the restaurant wasn't too crowded during lunchtime and we managed to find a table. The food here is pretty good! We each ordered a burger set meal, including fries and a milkshake. The milkshake, be it chocolate or vanilla, is great! Smooth, strong choco/vanilla flavor and milky! Not icy cold, but tastes good enough! As for the fries and burgers, the burgers are hot and the fries are delish! I especially like the fact that every single table has a bottle of ketchup so that u won't need to ask the assistants for more in case u run out! Anyway, prices here are reasonable considering the location of the restaurant and food here is good! Service is efficient as well!…Read More

Nice brunch and dessert!
Applegreen
2010-07-01
Went here for brunch and dessert. We went for the breakfast brunch, which provided fresh fruit, honey ham, potato crisps, sausages and specialty bread and eggs! My friend loved the special bread and eggs, but the rest, such as the honey ham and the potato crips, were not great. The potato crips were not hot enough and the honey ham was far too thick! It definitely would've tasted better had it been leaner! As for dessert, the brownie was lovely! Two warm brownies for sharing and the texture was very chocolatey! Loved the ice-cream as it blended well with brownies! Service here isn't that great either as they didn't let us go into the restaurant even when it was already 11:55am! Prices here are not low, but definitely not excessive, but I was definitely disappointed with the main course as some parts of it were not even warm!…Read More

Great dim sum,but too expensive!
Hoi Yat Heen
2010-07-01
Went here for dim sum with my family! As usualy, the dim sum was delicious, service was efficient and attentive and the setting of the restaurant was grand, nice and comfy. But of course, prices here are excessive and definitely food isn't cheap at all!!!Ordered the congee, which tasted delicious! Loved the texture of the congee, which wasn't too soggy and not too salty either. The poached veggies were made well and very nutritious. The rest of the dim sum like siu mai and Shanghai dumplings were pretty good. Nothing to complain about. One of the best dishes was the glutinous rice. The texture was good and not too soggy or crunchy. And it tasted good. My favorite dish was the green tea custard bun! I loved the custard filling. It really tasted like the "lau sa bao", but tasted much better than that! It was hot inside as well! Another impressive dish was the appetizer, which was placed at the very beginning on our table. They were fried walnuts/peanuts and tasted delicious! Sweet and crunchy! Would definitely come here but prices here are pretty high!…Read More

Good dim sum
Lockcha (Hong Kong Park)
2010-06-27
I really enjoy the dim sum at Lock Cha Tea Shop.Went here again with my family and ordered the usual tea I like, which is Green Tea. I like the fact that they give you the traditional utensils for you to enjoy the tea. We also went for the turnip cake, which was as delicious as usual and ordered the pan-fried vegetarian noodles. Tasted pretty good, but not as good as the plain noodles!Anyway, the soup tasted good as well. Would definitely come here again if I'd like to try out some vegetarian food. Prices here are reasonable, but definitely not low. Wish the food here were cheaper. Service is not too bad either.…Read More

Nice vegetarian food!
Veggie Palace
2010-06-27
We went here to try out the vegetarian private kitchen dinner. The setting of the restaurant is quite comfy and the variety of dishes was quite creative and interesting. We were served with peanuts as appetizers. The peanuts were coated with a special salty flavor on the outside and tasted very crispy. The salad was definitely excellent. I liked the fact that they put in a lot of peanut sauce and tried to make vegetarian "sashimi" and "sushi".The vegetarian dumplings were not too bad and each bowl had 2 dumplings. The soup was also very faresh. The fried potatoes were yummy. I liked the fact that the sweet and sour "pork" was not really made of pork, but of noodles and tofu. The vegetarian pizza was also very creative. I just didn't like curry because it was far too spicy and curry just isn't my cup of tea!All in all, it's a good meal and the food is delicious, creative and nourishing. Prices are reasonable and service is pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the dessert which consisted of sweetened walnut soup and osmanthus jelly. …Read More

Dim sum not bad, but limited choices
Tsui Hang Village (New World Tower)
2010-06-27
Went here for dim sum the other day with my family. Actually a bit disappointed in the choice of dim sum offered. There wasn't a wide range of selection of dim sum that we liked, so we just went for the barbecue pork buns and the tofu pudding. These 2 dishes turned out to be pretty good. I liked the strong barbecue pork flavor in the buns and the tofu pudding was made well. We also ordered the 荷葉 rice (lily rice) and it was not bad. Not too dry and not too soggy. But we just didn't like the fact that the variety of dim sum was far too limited. Anyway, prices here are overall pretty high as the restaurant's in Central. Service is pretty ok. …Read More

Spaghetti carbonara a bit too creamy
BonEcho
2010-06-22
Went here today to try out the new restaurant which offered set lunch. Tried out the set lunch which comprises a vegetarian soup (tomato soup) mainly, spaghetti carbonara and tea/coffee. Had takeaway and so didn't really get to take pictures apart from the bag that was provided. The vegetarian soup tasted quite nice. I really liked it. It wasn't spicy and it had a strong tomato flavor. The spaghetti carbonara, however, was disappointing. It was far too creamy and the texture of the spaghetti was very thick and a bit coarse. I liked the wide variety of tea offered and went for jasmine tea. The portion given was medium and to me, it was appropriate. I find the price very reasonable as it cost only $68 with no service charge. Will try out the dine-in service next time. …Read More

Went here to try out the vegetarian dim sum again yesterday.Ordered various dim sum.The turnip cake tasted good as always. Sometimes I find it a bit too oily. The vegetarian buns were horrible. Outside was warm, but the filling inside was cold. The dessert - coconut mochi was delicious. It was hot and not too sweet. I liked the pan-fried noodles the most. They were just soooo good! And not too oily. …Read More

FIsh & Chips not good
Liberty Exchange Kitchen & Bar
2010-06-20
Went here because it's a brand new restaurant.Tried out the fish & chips set lunch ($178 plus service charge).Turned out to be very disappointing. Nice salad, but there were far too many chips and too little fish. The fish didn't taste good either. To me, it was really a rip-off. Anyway, wouldn't come here again as the portion of the dessert (sorbet) was far too small. Plus, it's too expensive and the food quality isn't good. Service is not that efficient either. …Read More

Small main course, but huge dessert
One Bar
2010-05-18
Went here today for lunch with a bunch of friends. We each ordered almost different main course, ranging from linguine carbonara, laksa, udon, pad thai, to mung soup noodles, etc. Unfortunately, the mung soup noodles took a long time! The mung didn't come even when 7 of us were already eating and some of us even finished the main course! It was far too strange! Service of the waiters was good though! They kept on smiling and apologizing when necessary. When it came to dessert, the cakes were huge and yet comparatively speaking, the portion of the main course was tiny! Anyway, overall price is affordable in such a busy area in Central. Food could be fresher though and service could be more consistent. …Read More

Nice dim sum
Pier 88
2010-05-16
Went here for dim sum with my family. The food quality here is consistent and not too bad at all. The hygiene is also quite alright. We ordered the following dishes:1) Barbecue pork with "snowflakes" on top: delicious and I like the crispy and spongy part on top. Not exactly sure what it is but it's in the shape of snowflakes. 2) Cheung fun: had barbecue pork cheung fun. Again, it wasn't too bad. But not excellent. 3) Chicken feet and some spongy sweet cake (ma la cake): the chicken feet were for my grandma, but the spongy sweet cake was not that bad. I didn't really like the shape of it, but it didn't taste bad at all. 4) Egg white fried rice: it was pretty good. I liked the fact that it wasn't too oily, but a bit too plain. 5) "Chicken" buns and another dish with shrimps inside: the so-called "chicken" buns were said t be pretty good as I didn't try any of them, but I liked the other dish which contained food covered with some bean curd coating and the filling was shrimps. All in all, it was a nice meal and wasn't too expensive. Service wasn't too bad and this time we weren't seated at a crowded area, which was good. …Read More

A bit too oily
Rainbow Service
2010-05-14
Been here many times, but this time it's a bit too disappointing. Ordered the same old dish: egg white with luncheon meat and toast. Was so surprised at how oily the egg white was! After having the meal, I even felt like throwing up. Didn't feel good at all.Service is always quite efficient and price is definitely not high, but it's not cheap either. Wouldn't come here again as I think the food is a bit too oily for me. Even if I come here again, I would just go for toast and that's about it. …Read More

HK Epicurus You have been here so many times already - but I still haven't made it before 2pm to here! I used to go to the Dr. Mak on the same floor since a child, so I used to eat here all the time like 20-25 years ago hahaha! The shop's door and english name doesn't seem like its that old at all!

felicityli yea I've been here quite a few times. But this time I don't feel that good after the meal. Really felt like vomiting. Not sure if I should come here again. Perhaps should just go for the toast. I see a lot of nurses in the restaurant. haha

Stone pot rice doesn't seem as good
Secret Garden Korean Restaurant
2010-05-13
Went here for some Korean food today.Dunno why, as usual I ordered the stone pot rice with chicken, but this time, even with the egg, it just didn't taste as good. The rice wasn't that delicious. The chicken wasn't that fresh. And the veggies just didn't seem to blend well with the stone pot rice as a whole. Anyway, I really liked the wide variety of appetizers and the sweet syrup soup. Despite the strong ginger favor, I really liked the sweet syrup taste. My stone pot rice was also very expensive. Cost around $130 plus service charge. To me, it's a bit of a rip-off. Wasn't that delicious anyway and service wasn't great. …Read More

Disappointing this time and not clean
Rain Restaurant & Bar
2010-05-12
Went here for lunch yesterday with a friend. The standard of the pasta seems to be deteriorating. Went for the same old pasta - spicy clam spaghetti this time. One thing that disappointed me most and even frustrated me was the water quality. It was filthy and filled with crumbs or something! I was shocked! I told the waitress to pour me another clean glass of water and she did it straight away. But still, I can't believe they would serve such filthy water to their customers without even checking! Also, the pasta was just not my cup of tea! It was spicy, but not good. I much prefer the carbonara pasta. They've raised prices as well. THe pasta used to be just $88 plus service charge just around a week ago. And now all of a sudden it's $98 and the rest of the dishes are more expensive ranging from $98 to $158! That's really far too expensive. Even though I really like the garlic bread here, the food just isn't worth the value any more. Furthermore, the water was dirty. So I would think twice if I come here again. …Read More
