Ming Bistro is located on the 14th floor of Hysan, we highly recommend you to take a lift otherwise it is going to take ages by escalators. The menu is quite self-explainatory with lots of photos, the Western people sitting in a table next to us had no problems ordering, besides, the dishes are all priced very seasonably. Double boiled sea whelk & black garlic soup ($48)The clear soup was sweet from the black garlic, whelk, and red dates. The clear soup was sweet from the black garlic, whelk, and red dates. The steamy hot soup had been cooked for a long time along with some lean pork to bring out extra sweetness. It was just so heart warming to drink hot soup during in this cold winter.

The cute soup dumplings were nicely prepared with the skin in the just right thickness, with the just right amount of meat filling.

Every piece of dumpling maintained its shape after being picked up. Those little soup pockets contained almost a spoonful of meat juice goodness.

The rice was served in really hot stone bowl, which was literally still warm when we finished the whole meal. The abalone and chicken was all soft and tender, which matches nicely with the just lightly salted fried rice.

We just had to order this dish because my friend highly recommended it, because we both like that food should be served and maintained its right tempreture throughout the meal.

A bit of an unexpected dish to us. We thought it was going to be the crunchy semi-raw-semi-cooked yam, turned out it was all well-done mushy soft yam. Anyway, the potato-like powdery fresh yam complemented nicely the mushroom sauce, which we believed containing mushroom, diced pork, and pickled veggies.

The taste of yam is naturally mellow, therefore, the strong taste from the flavourful sauce sort of balanced the dish out. All and all, yam is super healthy and good for you and we should all eat more of it.

Another surprising dish with a very generous serving size for only $38. The sliced egg plant was dressed with sesame seed oil and was covered with cooked chili and garlic sauce which gave a medium spiciness. The heat rushed through my head after the first bite but I just couldn't stop eating!

With no regret ordering this dish, each piece of tenderloin was succulent. The black pepper sauce was just enough to coat every piece of meat and provided a mildly spicy kick to the dish.

The tenderoin was nicely done with a pink centre. It was much better than I expected from Ming Bistro. Compared to the previous two small dishes, this beef dish was more priced right with the expected smaller serving amount in this central Causeway Bay area.

Durian michu ($32)

When it comes to dessert, the restaurant surprisingly has quite a few interesting Chinese and Western options. Since we are curious as always, we have ordered two of our favourites.

The durion michu was filled with fresh durian meat, covered in fresh whip cream, wrapped in a thin sheet of mochi skin.

The white snowball looked very cute and somewhat sexy to me. The durian filling was still very prominent with just a small amount, while the cream lightened the richness from durian. I would imagine how durian lovers would die for this creamy smelly dessert, in a good way though.

Wondering if a Chinese restaurant can make creme brulee? Yes, they nailed the technique. It was creamy and soft in texture, with a strong eggy taste. It tasted just like some kind of egg pudding, with a sheet of sugar crust on top.

Nothing was wrong with this dessert and yes, she approved it.

Overall, we found this restaurant has really big portion size for a very affordable price and comfortable seating in a semi-open area. Meanwhile, each dish remained its uniqueness and quality. None of the dishes disappointed us, and in fact, very scrumptious with true ingredients. I would see myself coming back again if I want a securely tasty meal, no brainer!
