I have wanted to try rasupermen since last week as I quite like the ramen at the former MIST. I didn’t know that it’s opened today, and my coworker and I decided to go for an impromptu lunch on its first day of opening. 七味雞翼 This one was not very special. The seasoning did not stand out and the chicken wings were not as juicy as I wanted.
Cold ramen salad with beef consommé jelly
冷超人麵牛肉精華沙律 The cold ramen was topped with okra, tomatoes, cucumber juliennes, shredded bamboo shoots, deep fried leeks, sliced pork belly, and half-cooked egg. The reason that I ordered this was because I was intrigued by the beef beef consommé jelly, which was main source of “dressing”. Unfortunately I found to be a little weak in beef broth flavor. What brought this ramen salad to life, in my opinion, was the fresh toppings and the slightly sour vinegar-soy sauce dressing at the bottom. When all were mixed in with the al dente ramen, it was quite refreshing and a nice dish for the summer. .
The soft boiled egg was excellent in texture and flavor! I almost wanted to order an extra helping but was too full to do so.
According to the manager, the pork belly was actually put with rice to absorb some fat, then baked and chilled before slicing into pieces for the salad. It had a very high ratio of fat, which really did melt in your mouth, but I could see that some people may not like to eat chilled pork fat like this. .
Ramen sushi 拉麵壽司 The idea of this ramen sushi is basically replacing sushi rice with ramen noodles as base, then covered with sushi toppings. Here the toppings were uni from Korea, karasumi (烏魚子) from Japan, and kinoko mushroom from Japan. The noodles were already mixed with sushi soy sauce and could be eaten straight from the spoon.
The uni was surprisingly fresh with a mild sweetness without the usual bitterness present in Korean uni. .
The kinoko mushroom was quite fragrant though the overall flavor was a bit monotonous. I liked the karasumi “sushi” the best, slightly resembling our Chinese noodles with shrimp roes. .

This was my colleague’s order which I didn’t taste. So no comment. .
I think rasupermen was good for those with more adventurous palates. If you are one of those ramen traditionalists, this shop will not fit you. Those who appreciate new style or playful ramen or dishes related should be able to find something that they like here. I think I will go back to try out a few more dishes to see its full potential.
