叫做"食堂"這樣平民化,用料卻又優質,這裏用的牛肉全是鹿兒島A5黑毛和牛,連放台面的茄汁芥辣都是日版的。餐牌item不多,但漢堡,牛扒,肥牛,飯,烏冬都有。價錢由數十到百多元不等,非常親民。試了它們的漢堡,是日本風格的漢堡扒,牛味不濃,鬆化無筋,非常juicy,夾在下面的洋蔥是十分鮮甜,只有簡單調味的漢堡扒,再加些芝士,不用醬汁,已經很好吃了。另外也試了凍烏冬,肥牛質素不用多說,烏冬質感也彈牙。很細心呀,有防油防漏紙袋吃漢堡,尤其是吃這些juicy漢堡。

When we asked him what the difference was between the three different curry dishes on offer, however, he was unable to provide us with a satisfactory answer. In the end, we picked the wagyu steak with rice and the wagyu curry.

Food arrived promptly, but we were very disappointed with the portion size and ended up ordering a third dinner set. The curry had only a scattering of diced potatoes and roughly four pieces of beef that tasted mediocre at best (nothing 'wagyu' about them). The curry tasted like pre-packaged curry from the supermarket.

The wagyu steak tasted slightly better, but it was so thin and the overall portion size was sad (maybe just 3-4 pieces very thinly sliced pieces excluding the ends). I did like the slightly sweet sauce and it complemented very well with the rice, but the rice was not well cooked with part of it being lumpy and soggy. At a price of $138, it was definitely not worth it.

There was also a terrible lack of greens or fibre in the sets. The waitress looked bored.

A previous review commented on the fact that their tea was not free - but we didn't even get a glass of water.

Would not return.

突然想食牛,原本想去大熱牛扒屋 Le Relais de l'Entrecôte ,最後都係搵間近啲諗住可以食完飯去買嘢。叫咗個Wagyu Steak Don$138,另外加$10要汽水。嚟到個樣麻麻地,好齋得塊肉同3嚿青椒,大量黑椒、有嚿牛油响面望落好似鐵板Pepper Lunch,心裡已暗叫不好。嚿牛油真係多咗食,因為和牛自己本身應有油脂,一定絕對好過外加普通牛油。原來個肉仲有個醬甜甜地似壽喜燒,加埋啲黑椒,好重味蓋過哂原本塊牛油脂香,唔怪得要比牛油。飲埋成支可樂都味精反應成個鼻脹咗,只可以話嘥咗塊A5和牛扒。

兩天前與友人路經耀華街, 看到了這間新開的和牛食堂, 外表裝潢一般, 在門外看菜單的時候, 日本媽媽女店主從店內跑出來,用她一般的英語解釋了菜單。原來他們是從日本東京來的和牛專門店,專售賣九州鹿兒島頂級黑毛和牛, 自家從日本直接入口一整頭牛,而他們亦只進口 A5級的。經過一輪解釋, 我與友人點了和牛芝士漢堡($98)與及和牛牛扒飯($138)。整體來說雖然是一間有很些地方也需要改進的日本 家庭餐廳,但他們的食材品質, 日本師傅的烹調方法與及其誠意, 加上以這樣的價錢可以品嘗到日本正宗 A5 黑毛和牛, 已經不用多說了。

耀華街新開了主打和牛的和牛食堂,店內大部分店員是日本人,地方整潔,立刻引來牛魔王smart bunny 來幫襯。與友人點了和牛漢堡和壽喜燒, 雖然賣相有點輸蝕像碟頭飯,但勝在和牛真材實料,壽喜燒的和牛軟棉肥美,是真和牛,伴菜是日本粉絲,口感彈牙。和牛漢堡的包是烘過的,漢堡的美味醬汁,混着洋葱及薄片和牛肉吃,味道不錯。

After finishing yoga and was heading to lunch before work, a Japanese woman was passing out flyers. Odd to find someone Japanese passing out flyers on the street,  I stopped to get one. She eagerly explained in English that a new restaurant opened that served burgers, donburi, curry and sandwiches featuring wagyu beef. The place is small and simply laid out with basic tables and chairs. There was a open kitchen with a blackboard for their menu. Nothing special about the decor. I noted the chef was actually Japanese though the two waiters were Chinese.

I was presented with a menu that was written in both English, Chinese and Japanese. They do have a lunch set that said to check the menu board. However, due to the place being very new, they didn't have this worked out and nothing was written on the menu board. When asked what was today's lunch set, the waiters didn't know and had to ask the chef who said it was wagyu hamburger with prawn. Lunch set, one should note, does not include any extras. It's just the plate of the day. Not interested in eating, that I opted for a minced cutlet sandwich with tomato salad forf $88. I mean ... come on! I just finished yoga and wanted something light. The staff told me that due to new opening, drinks (except for alcoholic drinks) were $10. Drinks, I noted, were not that interesting and a bit steep in price. I mean ... WHO PAYS FOR GREEN TEA AT A JAPANESE RESTAURANT? Anyways, I chose a regular ice tea.

My ice tea came after a bit of confusion as the staff asked me twice if I ordered hot tea or cold tea. Then if I ordered ice green tea or hot green tea. I had to repeat each time "ice tea". Ice tea, I later realized was just that. Cold oolong tea with a straw thrown in. I think they should have stated that in their menu. Also, the tea was the type of tea you get from a bottle. It didn't taste like actual fresh brewed tea. As it was $10, I let it slide. If I paid the actual price of $24, I would have scowled.

Minced cutlet sandwich was a big minced cutlet between two pieces of white bread. I start with the pro: the mince cutlet was pretty good. Nice and juicy with a crispy exterior. Size was pretty decent. Now here's the cons: the white bread used was pretty thin. Crusts were not cut off. Bread was not toasted. It also tasted like Garden bread. Tomato salad was actually 3 cherry tomatoes, sliced in half. Taste was fine though a bit tart. But seriously ... 3 cherry tomatoes? Sliced in half to make it look like I got 6 pieces of tomatoes? Yes, the taste was pretty good but seriously ...$88 for a sandwich and 3 cherry tomatoes was a bit sad to look at. There was also a 10% service charge to all this, so I paid $100 for this. Yeah, I expected more.

Service was a bit choppy but they are still new and working things out. Food tasted pretty  good. But for the price they charge with what was given, I think was a bit over priced. As the food is good, I will give them another chance and return again. Perhaps next time I will try another item like a burger or a don and when I didn't finish doing exercise.
