小時候居住在港島,記得還在求學時期,媽媽每年總會帶我到文武廟參拜,祈求每年名列前矛,效果如何就不作多講了。不過每次參拜過後,都總愛到附近的摩囉街逛逛,觀賞一下古玩。除了一些古董瓷器,古錢,擺設外,還會出現一些寶刀寶劍,真想買把回家玩玩。自從遷居後,經已甚少再到這區,再次重遊此地,意外地發現內街竟開設了數間餐廳,在排檔的遮擋下,更增幾分神秘感。卡通主題餐廳越開越多,但大多也只是將食物換成印有卡通人物的圖案作擺。而Popsy Room今期除了把Chocolate Rain 帶進餐廳外,還加入了藝術元素。可見除了近門位置放有數隻巨型Chocolate Rain公仔外,牆上亦掛有數幅大掛畫,而牆上還有用葉片形的貼紙拼湊成一幅大壁畫,感覺繽紛又吸睛Lobster Carpaccio(生龍蝦薄切)Carpaccio一向會採用牛肉,而popsy就用了龍蝦肉製成底下伊一片薄切。再拼上紫色、橙色的食用花瓣作點綴,還有少量的忌廉芝士當成土壤似的。另外當然還有加入了矜貴的黑魚子提味,在眾多材料的配合下味道變得更加有層次Roasted Sweetcorn Soup(香烤玉米湯)金黃色是一直以來用作粟米湯的顏色

金黃色是一直以來用作粟米湯的顏色,但popsy的粟米湯竟然有著淺啡的顏色,還以為是加入了什麼材料,經詢問店員後才知道,原來粟米分成了多種時間烤製,部分更烤至帶焦面,然後再打成稠度甚高的粟米湯,味道入口香甜,由於打成糊狀似的,所以帶點飽肚感。

最後有中西合璧的「酒釀桂花梳乎厘」作為當晚的甜品。梳乎厘的表面較一般的硬挺,外圍有著一層糖面。然而味道不會過甜,細味下帶淡淡的桂花香,上層有著如海棉的口感,而下層則較為濕潤,入口香甜軟滑,相比起前菜及主菜,我就更喜歡這道了!

The colour was a bit dark for sweetcorn but they said the sweetcorn was roasted to a certain degree before being made soup.
The soup was really sweet with a strong sweetcorn taste and I loved the cheesy cracker on top decorated with popcorn.

The sweetness of the souffle was just right with a subtle Osmanthus taste but the souffle could have risen better as it was empty in the middle.

For Christmas, there will be a 6-course drunken Rudolf Christmas Menu or an 8 course Bathing Lobster menu.

朋友聚舊,當然要「把酒」,先來一瓶 Porta Reserva Sauvignon Blanc, CHILE 2014 ($388 bottle & $108 glass),對於酒並沒甚麼研究的我,覺得此酒甜度適中,帶陣陣葡萄果香而不酸澀,味道頗令人容易接受。

廚師把來至法國的Barbary Duck煮至7成熟,鴨胸呈現粉嫩肉色,充滿肉汁;外層質有嚼感。配上置頂的蜂巢的蜜糖味道,令鴨胸味道更佳。拌碟的除了常見的竹筍及粟子,還有少見的婆羅門參(Salsify),外表雖像昆蟲,但實際卻是口感像澱粉的素菜,味道清甜。

令人完全猜想不到它的真身是「粟米湯」的「烤玉米湯」(Roasted Sweetcorn Soup),深褐的顏色令人不禁聯想起西式的「龍蝦湯」。教人意想不到的是,原來它真是以粟米打成的湯,多種烤至不同程度的粟米,打成稠身如糊狀而色呈深褐的濃湯,味道比一般的粟米湯甜得多。不過我就覺得這湯的甜度偏高,而且口感也異常濃稠, 未必人人喜歡。幸好這湯還奉上一件扁長的芝士麵包條伴吃,芝士麵包條上更飾以與粟米湯互相呼應的爆谷,足見餐廳大廚細密的心思,鹹香的芝士麵包條在某程度上亦可以平衡濃甜烤玉米湯的味道。

是夜的主菜是「蜂巢焗鴨胸配婆羅門參及栗子」。來自法國的 Barbary Duck,鴨胸部分中間的肉色呈粉紅,肉質緊緻實淨,但個別位置有點兒韌。吃時把鴨胸沾點蜂巢上的蜜糖吃,味道不錯,再加上多種甚少餐廳使用的特色配菜,讓它成為這兒代替火雞奉客的聖誕特備菜式。

口味獨特,甚有創意的「酒釀桂花梳乎厘」是這頓晚餐的甜品。這味道稍稍偏甜的梳乎厘,外表不似得一般的梳乎厘般中間向上拱起,而是有如一個火山湖般微微向內凹陷,褐色外層下埋藏著的,是有點糊狀的米粒,甜蜜的味道,熱燙的口感,帶點兒桂花味道的香氣,讓這特色甜品成為這夜我最喜愛的一道菜式。

這間特色藝廓餐廳,其實在整個12月份,都有兩款不同的聖誕套餐供應,由六道菜組成 Drunken Rudolf聖誕大餐($988 + 10%)和有八道菜式的 Bathing Lobster聖誕大餐($1,388 +10%)供客人選擇,而在12月24日到26日,兩款聖誕套餐的價錢則分別為 $1,188和 $1,688,有興趣在一個充滿藝術氣氛的環境下寧靜地慶祝聖誕的話,可以預早訂位呢!不過因為這餐廳不設walk in,必須訂座,否則的話,便只得望門興嘆了。

粟米湯是西菜常客,但要做得出色其實一點也不容易。這客 Roasted Sweetcorn Soup,有別於一般做法,廚師先把原條粟米烤焗至微焦變啡,再打碎製湯。湯汁質感濃厚,甜度甚高,隱若帶著微微的焦香。酥皮配湯一點也不稀奇,但以酥皮片的形式奉上確實少見。相比大大塊的酥皮,這片酥皮在添香的同時又不會有太大膩意,在綠葉菜的粉飾下,僅餘的膩感再進一步被壓低。爆谷的原材料其實也是粟米,在粟米湯中出現,一吃兩食是富心思的配搭。

之後再試SEABASS配上MISO COMPOTE 想不到SEABASS可以用上呢種方法去配搭。

食到呢個時候我都不知不覺和朋友一齊飲到開始醉了開心的感覺,在這個地方不算太大的餐廳可以一大班朋友開開心心一齊玩COOKIES班同食晚餐真係開心。

服務態度又好,最值得開心同興奮既係COOKIES班,又可以玩又可以食返自己整既手作,成個下午都過得好充實!!

在這個網絡上有很多餐廳和食評作參巧,我和朋友就經過網上的推介和食評找到了這間在上環摩囉街的隱世餐廳我先和朋友提前打電話預約了這間餐廳,當晚我就和朋友一起找尋餐廳的位置,原來就在摩囉街,餐廳出面就是專賣古董物品的地方,餐廳就在這個地方的當中真的相當隱世。 一入到去完全比眼前的擺設和畫吸引住了,想不到在這小小的餐廳有著的寧靜高貴的風格。先食頭盤蟹肉牛油果沙律,入口口感不會太溜,原本以為蟹肉同牛油果入口會好怪點知原來是這麼搭!下一度就是牛清湯,通常都是比較常飲雞清湯,第一次飲這牛清湯入口,比較清只有小量的牛肉香味,但配合了beetroot puree 合感都還溶合到令到湯味比較濃。再來就是這度煎帶子,口感比預期中的帶小小失水準可能是因為煎得比較耐,但不過不失的是椰菜花puree值得一試!!10度的菜式,就一開始的這幾度己經令到我胃口大開了,服務生又夠體貼每一度菜都會解答有什麼料同做法,在這可以看得出廚師和樓面的溝通,真心推介這一間餐廳!!

下一度就是牛清湯,通常都是比較常飲雞清湯,第一次飲這牛清湯入口,比較清只有小量的牛肉香味,但配合了beetroot puree 合感都還溶合到令到湯味比較濃。

再來就是這度煎帶子,口感比預期中的帶小小失水準可能是因為煎得比較耐,但不過不失的是椰菜花puree值得一試!!

不可不題這個龍蝦濃湯, 很濃郁,啖啖蟹肉,飲落去真的喝得出是用了好多長時間去淆製
濃湯過後,是一個清新雪葩清洗一下味蕾

接住就係魚,皮脆,但魚還有肉汁瑣住。

鴨邊出兩道完全不同的菜式,太餓了,無影到。。。

跟住的兩道鴨,都不過不失。 
甜品都不錯,都是中西合璧的梳乎里! 

這一餐都不錯,滿足!

The popsy room is a very sweet place for an intimate dinner. Been here a few times for friends birthday before . Every time the art work and menu is different , and never disappoints.The dishes are very detailed , and for 8-10 course fine French dining in sheung wan area . I think is a steal . It's about 30% cheaper then other fine dining places . And we get the whole place to chill the whole night . And play our own Music. The servers were very helpful when we brought our own balloons and decor

The servers were very helpful when we brought our own balloons and decorations .
And they did a special menu for my pregnant friend .

And they let us bring our own bottles .

Overall I wouldn't mind coming back for another celebration or to bring my clients here .

People always feel special going to an art gallery for dinner .

Popsy Room was a really disappointing experience. It was the first time I wanted to protest against paying the bill as it was soo bad food for such a crazy price. Here is the advice we wrote to the restaurant the next day - we never got a reply:

"We had dinner at The Popsy Room yesterday evening. We were really looking forward to a special dinner.

Unfortunately the experience was far from what we expected of a $1188 dinner per person.

I am a chef myself and have many years of experience with fine dinning. 

The bread that was served was definitely not home made nor was it  from a high quality bakery. It was like 1 week old Baguette from Wellcome.
The first course was a block of melon flavoured ice which had nothing to do with a sorbet and the avocado was unripe and uneatable. 
The beef consommé was blend and was lacking depth and salt.

The 63C egg was ok but also under-seasoned and the cheese puffs were old. (did you take them from earlier this week?)

Hamachi was ok although a bit of a weird flavour combination.  
The orange and ginger sorbet was way too sweet

The scallop was nicely cooked.

The sea bass was wrapped in ham and I clearly asked for no pork  (HAM = PORK!!!!)  in our email conversation beforehand . The miso spherification was tasteless.    (Hello, why do you ask for dietary restrictions when you then ignore them?)
The beef was a good quality and nicely cooked but the rice noodle were tasteless and the fries were not crispy at all.

The egg white cake was like cardboard, the apricot too sweet.

I am really sorry to write you this email but we were totally disappointed.

I hope this email helps to improve the quality of your food.

On top of that they try to sell you white wine Cloudy Bay at HKD 500 (you can get it 7-Eleven for 120, which is still way too expensive)

近期特然又想來一次
好吧..就到這一下
果然沒令我失望
加上可用這價錢吃到這水準
也真是十萬個值了

這次真心...每道菜都很不錯
但令我最為愛的
是意粉帶有蕃茄味而且麵身薄
而Risotto還真是我暫時最愛這裡的

味道真的一絕
真的要不停說好味得很
怎麼可做到這樣美味而不膩
還有那湯
清甜的味道


最不好的是我不愛甜吃

呑拿魚全身被黑白芝麻包圍的做法我在法日fusion及西班牙菜餐廳已吃過,慢煮保持生嫩軟棉的肉質,但亦有黑白芝麻脆脆的口感,加上三文魚子的鹹香,簡單的口感變化,作為前菜十分稱職。

鯖魚煎得恰到好處,皮脆肉嫩,厚度適中,擺盆別緻,同樣色彩繽紛,富陽光味,配以的素菜皆是清爽的類別,例如青豆丶蘿蔔及菜苖,畫龍點睛之處在黃色的柚子汁,酸香發放清新脫俗之感覺。

紅酒煮牛,天作之合,再加上是臉頻,嫩腍入味,入口融化,肉中爆汁,吃得滿足;旁邊的薯泥,有助平衡啖啖肉之罪惡感,同時協助吸收了剩餘的紅酒汁,不浪費一絲滋味。

最後的甜點延續繽紛的色彩,多樣化的包括綠茶慕絲丶紅豆蓉丶朱古力脆脆及黑糖啫喱配雲呢拿醬,以黑色的餐碟盛載,以作代表圖中少女黑暗中尋白光的意境。

甜點各有口感,當中我最喜歡的是綠茶慕絲甜中帶甘香,及朱古力脆脆的口感。

MAGAZINE 是以香煎大虎蝦天使麵配忌廉蟹籽汁,基於藝術家Naomi 是日本人,我覺得今次的菜單加入了小小日式風的元素。大蝦同天使麵彈牙,與忌廉蟹籽汁互相輝映,而且面頭加上紫菜,吃下去有一種微妙的日式風味。

主菜CHECK我選了 紅酒煮牛面頰肉配秘方薯蓉及時菜。牛面頰經過燜煮後輕輕一切就已經分開,雖然紅酒味道稍微偏淡,但濃郁的醬汁與牛頰肉與薯蓉配搭得宜,不錯。

甜品有 SHINE THE DARKNESS 綠茶慕斯朱古力脆餅陪紅豆蓉、黑糖果凍及雲呢拿醬。綠茶慕斯除了有濃濃的綠茶味、質感有點像半溶的棉花糖,配上下面的朱古力脆脆非常好味。
