that's what the menu said - dining here is like eating at home and I can tell you it felt exactly the same.it was a Friday evening so we were slightly late and the waiter called to ensure we were on our way. I thought the restaurant was fully booked - hence the call to find out if we were coming - but it turned out to be barely half full on a Friday evening. it was a Friday evening so we were slightly late and the waiter called to ensure we were on our way. I thought the restaurant was fully booked - hence the call to find out if we were coming - but it turned out to be barely half full on a Friday evening. Being my first time at the restuarant, it did not give me a lot of confidence!
There were four of us, and we ordered different main courses from the menu. it was a small menu and the choices were limited which was fine with me as sometimes the more choices you have the less idea you have as to what to order!
I ordered the roast french chicken as it was the signature dish. The meat wasn't tender and juicy as some of you have described in the previous postings. The best I could say about the chicken was it was very average and not even as good as my very own version of it cooked in the comfort of my own kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I am not into cooking at all but I do know how to season a chicken and then shove it in the oven for 45 minutes and it usually comes out tasting quite nice. it just made me wonder why I paid so much more to have roast chicken in a restaurant when I or anyone for that matter can do it better at home? So the restaurant was right, it gave you a homey feel, but unfortunately the food was like your own cooking too.
My three other friends seemed to agree.

由於3月尾一個星期五想Book位同同事去食Lunch,但原來已Full了, 所以當時接聽電話之職員(Rex)話下次黎就送Dessert比我地, 咁我就再Book了4月頭的Friday,但當中有同事有事, 故成個Booking安排了在Thur, 係未去之前是非常Smooth的, 欣賞他們的事先預備, 因為知道我地一行八人就預先問我們可以Order食什麼Set Lunch, 定到時去到一坐低就可以唔需要再浪費時間去睇Menu.我份人想公正一點, 他們的食物, 是非常好食的, 我地一行8人, 當中6人叫了Steak (2個要5成熟, 4個要7成熟), 我本身是叫了5成熟, 個Steak 非常好, 半生半熟, 但唔會有血水, 係好嫩口, 好prefect的, 反而有一少部份同事覺得7成就好似接近Well Done, 所以如果叫Steak, 最好是要5成好了, 另外有2個同事叫了三文魚扒, 她們一樣覺得非常好食, 還有, 不得不讚的, 就係放在Steak下面之薯菜, 不是出面其他店舖能夠做到的, 市面上用的只是好普通炸薯角, 但Paul做呢款薯菜係非常Well Done, 不會軟到似薯蓉, 亦唔

但"Dessert"呢個Point令我好嬲, 唔係我逼你地送, 係當初Promise左會送, 但當我地食完個Main Course後, 竟然問我地會否Order Dessert? 再問只係話"買一送一", what??? 咁即是什麼? 忘記左自己同客人既promise? 最終, 係有送Dessert, 我地8人送"3大款" Dessert去Share, 我嬲到連餐飲都唔叫 (Set Lunch include drinks), 一啖 Dessert都唔食, 我唔係一個貪小便宜之人, 當初你話唔送都ok, 但既然講左就要做, 正如我話3月尾食唔到, 係自己Book遲了, 但我真係Book番4月頭再黎過食, 我真係唔明白點解會做成咁? 若果只希望客人黎食1次only,的確做得到了, 我只係想講事實比其他人知, 希望留意一下 貴司之Services!

It was my 2nd time here and very satisfied with the food. I know 2 servers are enough but they are not well trained. I still think that the service could be better. Heard of this restaurant from a few friends highly recommended, finally booked it on a Tuesday. There are only a few tables but perfect for a quiet dinner with my loved one. Starter ordered Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon and Mango, Avocado Sald with Mozarella. I gotta say I was shocked when I see the smoked salmon as it was a very thick slice sitting on some crispy leaves. I have never seen anywhere serving salmon like this and I do love the meaty-ness. Starter ordered Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon and Mango, Avocado Sald with Mozarella. I gotta say I was shocked when I see the smoked salmon as it was a very thick slice sitting on some crispy leaves. I have never seen anywhere serving salmon like this and I do love the meaty-ness. The mango salad is very refreshing with the homemade honey & lemon dressing, however, the mango is a bit sour.

My honey and I ordered Roasted Spring Chicken (their signature dish) and Pan-fried Seabass respectively. Many of my friends urged me to try before I came but I didn't expect the chicken was so nicely cooked. Crispy skin but juicy inside with the white meat tenderly cooked to perfection. The seabass is very nice too, fresh and meaty, served with a thick creamy fish sauce, but the skin is not as crispy as I would have liked. Have to mention the potatoes were top-draw as well !!!

The dessert was average comparing to the main course but still acceptable. It was a lovely meal and can feel the "heart" from the chef.

As mentioned by previous critics, the chef does look awesome and a real treat for the eyes.

一個月前訂枱,上星期四終於跟老公去試試。一心打算如果那晚的MENU無春雞的話,便會截返。好明顯,春雞是必試的!天氣炎熱,我們一坐下,侍應立即問我們是否要點些飲品,很體貼,加了分!然後在是日MENU中點了兩個SET DINNER包括頭盆、主菜、甜品及飲品落ORDER後先送上自製麵包,很好吃啊!唔夠可加添的!1.頭盆: 煙鴨胸拼黑加倫子汁: 味道普通,但有細心的侍應哥哥為我們加上黑胡椒,提升味道。 煙三文魚凱撒沙律: 從沒有見過這樣厚切的煙三文魚,口感特別,沙律菜也得新鮮,凱撒汁味道剛剛好! 2.主菜: 澳洲牛柳:7 成熟的牛柳剛剛好,十分厚,吃極都吃不完似的,好味! 春雞: 春雞很大隻,而且肉質嬓滑多汁,連雞胸都很滑,不過切到手軟!但真的很好吃!3.甜品: 芒果菠蘿層層拼雪榚及焗蘋果脆脆都是普通,但不會過甜。總括來說,服務好好,侍應都端莊有禮、細心周到; 佈置簡單,但有家的感覺; 食物味道好,是用心之作。這裡是兩公婆或情侣來撐枱腳的好地方。春雞~~ 我們下次再會!

春雞: 春雞很大隻,而且肉質嬓滑多汁,連雞胸都很滑,不過切到手軟!但真的很好吃!3.甜品:

總括來說,服務好好,侍應都端莊有禮、細心周到; 佈置簡單,但有家的感覺; 食物味道好,是用心之作。這裡是兩公婆或情侣來撐枱腳的好地方。

I must say our meal had a rocky start - the glass of house white I ordered tasted flat and stale, like it's been sitting in an opened bottle for a week in the fridge. We politely pointed that out and the manager (not Paul himself) promptly replaced it with another glass, this time poured from a newly opened bottle. His face was a bit expressionless but his tone was nonethless cordial, so that was cool.

The salads -smoked duck breast over muslun and cherry tomatoes drizzled with cranberry puree, and ceasar with smoked salmon - were decent but unremarkable. The greens were crisp and fresh but underdressed, while the duck and salmon tasted like any other you'd find in a supermarket's deli section. We enjoyed the perfectly-toasted baguette a lot more, and we liked the fact it came with three seperate condiments - olive oil and balsamic, butter with roasted garlic (YUMMO), and tomato puree.

The entrees were the highlight of our meal. My roasted spring chicken was succulent and tender with perfectly crispy skin, albeit marred by the generous helping of gravy poured on top. It would've been even better if the gravy was used to line the bottom of the plate or served seperately. My friend's pan seared salmon was also cooked just right. Also notable were the vegies - the haricot vert and carrots were extraordinarily sweet and crispy (probably organic), and the potato wedges had nicely caramelized edges. It's nice to see the effort that's gone into these little things.

The desserts and coffee were passable but nothing special. Service was cordial if a little inexperienced at certain instances. Overall Paul's kitchen holds itself well in terms of food quality, and on par with its more established neighbours like Sup 1. There's certainly a niche for homey comfort food in this city, although I don't think the offerings of this place are that distinctly British.

And let's get to the giant pink elephant in the room that I've yet to mention in this lengthy review: yes the owner/chef is DDG (drop-dead-gorgeous), and he seems to know it well, judging from his interactions with his female patrons. But Paul's Kitchen has a lot more to offer, beside Paul himself.

同事話去試下兼睇下個chef 有幾得, 是是但但咪去囉. 飯日日都要食家啦...坐低感覺舒服乾淨。Set lunch 有好多選擇, 價錢由 $78-118. 我地一行4人頭盤都揀左湯唔要沙律. 第四次來這裡了!! 第一次黎的時候和老婆來試牛排和雞,點知比他的雞吸引.要同老婆爭雞食!第二次,一支公黎食曬成隻雞!好滿足!!!所以,已後一定唔同人share隻雞!!食這家野,真係好主觀,有d人要睇靚仔,有d人又話佢d雞唔好食,又話有血!! 我又未見過佢d雞有血喎!! 我來這裡,只想一支公食曬成隻雞如果他們想多d chicken dish will better!!!!

I tried the salad and the ingredients were very fresh. My friend and I ordered the Bacon and Mushroom Penne pasta in Cream Sauce as a main course. The portion was not too big.

The Penne pasta set was only $78 while other main courses are more expensive.

Overall I think that this restuarant is quite good.

其實開頭入到黎d同事好雀躍, 係咁"裝"下個chef有幾靚仔. 呢方面就唔方便o係openrice評論. 點知d野食攪到大家冇哂胃口, 冇哂癮, 食完都唔飽因為根本係難食到食唔落..我地幾個唔係揀食的人, 但係呢間餐廳從此black list, 請都唔再食....

This is my first time to this restaurant, I gotta say I was regret to believe the positive comment below.The Chicken was really as said ---- Uncooked, blood was coming out after my first cut.The slightly positive thing is the apply crumble but in fact most place could do this.Well its really your choice to worth trying this or not.Good Luck

I've been to Paul's Kitchen a few times, both lunch and dinner. I gotta say their quality of dinner is better than lunch. Lunch is always packed with people and the food seems not prepared as details as dinner. It looks like a common mistake for those restaurants located in Central as they would like to maximize the lunch revenue. However, they do have the best Roasted Chicken I have ever tried. Lunch is always packed with people and the food seems not prepared as details as dinner. It looks like a common mistake for those restaurants located in Central as they would like to maximize the lunch revenue. However, they do have the best Roasted Chicken I have ever tried.

Normally I wouldn't pick any chicken dishes in any western restaurant as most of them are dry and tasteless. Recommended by their waiter that their spring chicken is imported from France which is best for one person.

It served as a whole spring chicken on the dish with browny skin, slightly crisp. Impressively the chicken is very moist with juice inside. However, it takes a huge effort to cut the whole chicken into small pieces to eat.

They have a very strong homecooking feel with cosy environment. I spent a few evenings there with my friend chit-chatting and share some nice wine.

p.s. Just read the below comments and wonder their signature roasted chicken should be served during dinner time or saturday lunch only?

之前看過雜誌介紹,同事們都嚷著要來試試,可是午飯時間,不預訂根本沒可能有位子今天終於有機會一嚐,坦白說,不止失望,簡直後悔我們點了set lunch,分別是鴨胸和傳說一吃難忘的雞.味道都不說了. 最基本連肉都未煮熟. 鴨胸切下去已血流如注,都算了. 那個雞,沒可能可以生吃的吧我們有懷疑鴨是可以半生熟吃的...),每刀切下去都滲著血.待應哥哥見狀說給我再煮一會,我跟午飯時間有限,不能等了,過一會他就捧一碟新的給我.實在不得不讚他們的服務態度.可是一刀切開來...也是滲血的...雖然沒第一碟嚴重,但肉都是粉紅色的.其實一直看著黃色的汁染成血紅色,胃口都沒了...真掃興最後幸好一早決定加錢吃甜品,吃的是apple crumble.味道還可以,已經是我們這天最高評價的食物了.最後是價錢,如其他人comment的70多塊已經過去了,最平的一款set lunch 要$78加一.如果最平的一款不合你心水,那結賬起碼要一百塊. 同樣價錢,同一條剩絕對有大量更好的選擇
