A hidden gem in Happy Valley

Located on one the main street of Happy Valley, Little Lucie's which opened in September last year had been one of the cafes I've been longing to try, especially with loved one. Ricotta hotcakes are not to be missed! Definitely pleasing to the eye as well as the palate - three thick stacks of light and fluffy hotcakes 🥞 held up quite well and was served with fresh fruit, maple syrup 🍯 and creamy ricotta.


The toastie was another hearty brunch option, asked the staff to spread some vegemite for flavour enhancement 🤪. The grilled tomato 🍅 was juicy and the hash was crispy as well.


Love the terrace setting, boasts with greeneries and plants 🌿🪴 and has a huge canopy over it, just felt really cosy and homey for a split second, it felt very much like those cafes you'd encounter in Melbourne or Cornwall

Came in for a snack and ended up ordering several full dishes between the 2 of us - it’s that good. Recommended: pappardelle bolognaise (they stand out from other bolognaise dishes I’ve had), steak baguette, crab linguine. The selection of wines by the glass is a great choice and the cocktails were yummy. Staff was very nice, if a bit slow sometimes (though we were in the middle of the afternoon pre-lockdown)

Visited this new restaurant with my husband and sister on a Saturday afternoon as we just live nearby.We initially wanted to sit in the main dining area and was told that there was a terrace - and glad we took the advice ! Since it’s Christmas time the terrace was decorated in a festive way, there was only another table and we really enjoyed the ambiance.Food was great and nicely presented. We ordered Caesar salad, Korean fried chicken (portion was a bit small though), pizza and a bit of mussels

We initially wanted to sit in the main dining area and was told that there was a terrace - and glad we took the advice ! Since it’s Christmas time the terrace was decorated in a festive way, there was only another table and we really enjoyed the ambiance.

Food was great and nicely presented. We ordered Caesar salad, Korean fried chicken (portion was a bit small though), pizza and a bit of mussels. Would have been great if there were weekend set lunches /brunches, but à la carte dishes were nice too. Will come back to this place again.

    Really enjoyed Little Lucie’s, such a cute spot for brunch with friends or a coffee date! A hidden terrace area in the back which is great to sit at too. Shared the breakfast burrito (yum) and the corn fritters (even more yum) but my favourite were these pancakes!!

      Long wait, mediocre meals

      The chef is rude to customers and its own staff. 45 mins into waiting for our meal he said he was out of chicken schnitzel. I cook, I can make a schnitzel for the kids in 5-10 mins. It’s not that hard to make a triple coat and deep fry the thing. But never mind, we ordered the chicken tenders instead only to get a grilled chicken breast cut into strips. Even the waitress rolled her eyes when she brought it in. We ordered the adult fish and chips meal but somehow got a child portion. The icing on

I would not recommend this restaurant, long wait for meals with mediocre meals quality. Waiters are very nice though but not much they can do with the slow and rude “chef” in the kitchen.

      fabulous food, service needs work

      Little Lucie's is one of several new restaurants that have opened up in my neighbourhood recently.  It took over the previous restaurant Sing Woo Road Bar and Grill. Later I realized, it was actually from the same restaurant chain but they just changed the name.The interior is casual and nice. They seemed to have kept some of the decor from the previous restaurant while adding new additions. There is one big bar area while the tables are on one side.       The interior is casual and nice. They seemed to have kept some of the decor from the previous restaurant while adding new additions. There is one big bar area while the tables are on one side. There are a number of tables facing outside so you get a semi al fresco feel when they open the doors.

      Menu is in English only. There is no Chinese. There are no staff that speak Chinese as well. They offer a la carte and it's prmary focus is casual food with that range from Asian inspired to British fare. It's a little bit of everything. Which is similar to what this restaurant chain likes to produce.

      As I came for lunch, they offer a lunch set menu that costs $128. It includes a choice of starter, main and dessert or coffee or tea with possible upgrades for drinks. I decided to choose the lunch set.

      For the starter I chose the lamb kofta. You get two and these were really good. It was on a bed  mixed salad greens and drizzled with a mint yoghurt sauce. Simple but yet nicely presented. The taste was spot on and you can taste the layers of spices. The lamb wasn't dry. The sauce complimented it well.

      For my main, I decided on the Pan Seared Tilapia. It arrived on a big bed of mashed potato and served with a side of garlic broccoli. There was a wonderful citrusy sauce drizzled around it. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. But the star was the mashed potato. These were fabulous. Buttery with a hint of lemon. It was so good. This was also a hearty portion so you do roll out of here full.

      The daily dessert was a tiramisu. Moist and richly soaked in espresso. The size was perfect as it wasn't too big to not be able to finish.

      Now, the food was fabulous. Beautifully presented and tasted delicious. However, the service was  complete mess. Entering the restaurant, the wait staff showed me to a table that hadn't been cleared yet so she hurriedly cleared the table. Perhaps in her rush, she just brushed the crumbs to the side for when I sat down, I had crumbs all over my seat. Food was brought out quickly but not much of a smile or a mention what it was. Just a quick plunking down of my plate and rushing off.  The lady next to me asked for the wifi password only to be told by the staff just use the login. When she was asked again what login, the staff just walked away ignoring her. She was finally helped by someone else. My dessert was asked for three times, twice just a nod with nothing arriving until the third time someone brought it over. And then finally, they had an elderly lady in a cane hover over me as I was still paying the bill so I felt inclined to leave as soon as possible so she wouldn't have to stand for very long. I felt like I was eating at a cha chan teng.

      They only have three floor staff and they were multi-tasking and rushing about. Yes, lunch is busy but this is also Happy Valley where residents here rarely rush to eat. We are a casual residential area where a lot of people like to just chill. There really isn't any need for them to run about all over the place. Certain things could have been better attended to and need much improvement. It's disappointing when the food is excellent but the front of staff lets you down.

      I was going to give this review a frown but I will push it back to an ok and a possible return to check on them again as the manger did privately message me after my displeasure on the service on my social media page with an acceptance of the criticism and a promise to review and imrove. For that reason, I will visit it again because the food is quite good.

      從One Sing Woo 變了Little Lucie's後第一次光顧。原來仍是同一個老闆經營，就是為了慶祝才用了他孫女名字Lucie作為店名，並稍為調整了菜單並改了風格變得更陽光。今天重點在於我朋友正在懷念老店的Oreo Shake被經理聽見。他馬上跑到便利店買Oreo馬上做了這Oreo Shake給我朋友。絕對要給100個贊👍🏻。這，就是服務！吃了Calamari & Pizza。味道不錯呢。😋
