Taste: Gwailo Mixed rice: We were quite intrigued in this gwailo mixed rice, looked delicious in the hoto, but did not know it would be so different to the picture shown. It is half of minced meat sauce, then other half is cream sauce on top of rice. The minced meat sauce actually taste better than the cream sauce. The creams auce was not strong r creamy enough. But the minced meat sauce was strong in flavour and was very rich. But overall it was abit wieird. The two taste dont match and one stronger than the other and it was way too chinese style of the rice. the eg was nice and crispy though. rather big plate but next time would not order it again.
Kayan french toast: This was nice and crispy. compared to last time when i had plain french toast, this was more tasty. The middle is filled with kayan and for first time I can actually taste the Kaya. It was much sweeter than nomal french toast. But i liked it. it was crispy and hot on outside and nicely mad. i asked for syrup again, and they gave me a very dirty look. Then watched me while i put syrup on and they said i should not put syrup on as I already have kaya. But isnt it my personal taste? also she really didnt like how I put the syrup on. o well.... I prefer with syrup , it makes the fried bread taste better.
American style hot dog: THIS WAS DEINATELY NOT AMERICAN STYLE. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a chinese bun with a chicekn meat sausage. I was highly disappointed with this dish as the other dishes all tasted quite good. I can hardly even taste the butter insid ethe bun. But only thing is, the bun was nice and warm. I dont think i will ever order this again, wasnt exactly cheap, and I can get a better hotdog than this somewhere else.
Iced cold Lemon Tea: I have said on earlier review they do the best hot milk tea. Today we tasted their Ice cold Lemon tea. it tasted so good. Not just because it was ice cold, but it was refreshinga nd doesnt fill you up like milk tea does. There was just enough of honey for that sweet taste and enough lemon for tasting. it was good.
Conclusion: After coming here last time, http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2143855 -I kept craving for their milk tea and french toast. So wanted to come back everyday. this was on a weekday, way passed lunch time too. But there was still a little queue. But got seated quite quickly and there were many seats. this time we weere seated with another couples. A lady came over to rush us to order, so quickly ordered. Their attitude and service has not improved from my last visit. Still no eye contact, no 'thank you'or 'please'' Drinks came first then food. My french toast with kaya came, and syrup was nowhere to be found AGAIN like last time. So I had to ask,a dn the woman was very rude and said "You have Kaya already, no need for syrup" I was thinking, can I not have personal preferences? I might like syrup on it even if it makes it really sweet. So I politely said "Can you bring me syrup"Then she looked so disgusted and unwantingly grabbed the syrup and gave me it. she did not leave me alone, but stood right next to me and watched me pouring syrup onto the fresh toast and said ënough, that is enough" Then when I was giving it back to her, she said ÿou need to do it carefully, it is everywhere" I have never had this experience of being guided over on how to eat my food. I am not happy. But the food was great.
On leaving, we had to pay up by the till. The woman did not even look at us. all she did was took our bill, took money, gave us change. No talking, no looking. they seriously need shake up their service.
